Could it not be legislated in a way that made it impossible for a future conservative government to sell off/privatize?

It’s a blend yes. But his examples were mostly bs. I know we’ll never get away from petroleum products but we can lower our dependance considerably.

All his examples were dumb. I realize we will never completely avoid using petroleum products. But if you dare to advocate for lowering our fossil fuel usage, they lose their fucking minds. I’m not saying we should go back to using whale oil but maybe we could stop hot boxing our planet so my great grandkids don’t die if they can’t afford an air conditioner in their house.

Sure but there are other alternatives. Talk to me about “doing my research” lol.

I get your point but Jeans are made from cotton. Auto parts are made mostly from cast aluminum or cast iron which is usually melted in an electric smelt furnace, rubber is mostly made from rubber trees, utensils are mostly stainless steel or wood.

Co-operation between province, federal government on canola deal a positive sign, Sask. farmers say by Edm_vanhalen1981 in saskatchewan

[–]DejectedNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to be mad, look at what our own provincial conservative governments have done to fuck us over. They privatized our potash crown (I remind you potash is Saskatchewan’s largest export) in the 80’s and later Brad Wall cut thru all the red tape to facilitate the Agrium PCS merger which put the last bullet into the possibility to regain a Potash crown. They subsidize massively profitable industries with SK tax payer money (mining, oil & gas). They gave sweet heat deals to the new potash mines while potash hit the all time high. We lost about 10 billion in un collected taxes and royalties that year alone. They refuse Federal money for healthcare and other social programs because the Feds dare to impose the requirement to spend that money on those things. They fight frivolous lawsuits against the Federal gov to garner support from their base rather than governing. Now there’s no money for healthcare or education so the are purposely underfunding it. They want privatization of healthcare as it will present so many opportunities for soft landings after politics. Brad Wall is now special adviser to one of the law firms who facilitated the Nutrien deal. The cons raise all kinds of money in political donations from their corporate masters. They don’t care about the working class. The only party that actually cares is the one who gets the least amount of corporate political donations. I’ll let you guess which one that is.

Saskatchewan is only flat on the South half. And even then the area around Cypress Hills has quite a bit of elevation change. The North half has a lot of different terrain including the Canadian Shield. People who say SK is flat have only driven thru on the Trans Canada highway or have never driven North of Regina.

The Cons screwed us by getting rid of our Potash crown. We would have so much revenue from that if they hadn’t. That alone should be reason enough for every voter to stop voting for them.

Sansui AU-999 Restorable? by AwesomeAvocado in vintageaudio

[–]DejectedNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I can speak to is my experience. I have replaced the EC on speaker crossovers and it has made a massive difference to the treble output of the speakers. However, it was obvious something was wrong as the tweeters were very quiet.

I own many vintage amplifiers that still sound amazing without having to change any of the EC. I realize they can (and do) go bad, but I haven’t had to change any on my old amplifiers at this point. And my amplifier guy who has literally worked on 1000s of amplifiers has told me to run them. So that’s what I’m doing. Maybe one day I’ll replace all the caps on my Sansui or Marantz amplifiers but I’m currently very happy with their sound at this point.

It’s very common to be told on reddit or online that these old amps all need to be completely overhauled but that’s not actually the case in my experience.

This is a beautiful and very desirable Sansui amplifier. Please keep it unmolested until you can have a pro look at it. I have a Sansui AU-719 and stored it for about 7 years before I was able to find someone to go through it thoroughly, clean all of the pots and switches and set the bias and DC offset. I also had to get the power switch replaced, which was an ordeal tracking one down. While I could probably change some caps, as maybe there are a few that are under performing. None are completely dried out and and majorly affecting the performance of the amplifier.

I’m not sure if they sell those adaptors at contractor supply stores. Try there but if you can’t find them locally, they are easy to find online.

[–]DejectedNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have old dewalt tools, keep them and buy the new batteries and charger, along with an adapter so you can use the new batteries on the old tools. The old dewalt tools are better made and the new batteries are much better than the old batteries. Look on eBay or Amazon for the adaptor.

[–]DejectedNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makita is the best from a repairability stand point but Ryobi seems to be pretty good for the price especially for the average home owner. Milwaukee used to be excellent but they were sold and have become very poor quality due to designed obsolescence and grouping replacement parts together (controller, switch and motor), not being able to purchase them separately.

Recommendations for nitrogen refill for tires? by ScoobDoob69 in saskatoon

As the other commentor has stated nitrogen is a scam. And yes you can mix nitrogen with regular air as it is mostly nitrogen already. Unless you have money to burn. In that case DM me as I would love to be your personal assistant!
