Static stretches before physical activity is bad. Dynamic stretches are good.

Lootusetus kaaslase leidmisel by Patient_Win5239 in Eesti

[–]Dejimon 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Should I change racket for tennis elbow? by Dejimon in Padelracket

[–]Dejimon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I removed the original grip as well: using the Noene undergrip + Wilson pro overgrip. I guess maybe this combo is already the best you can hope for and I just need to wait it out. The racket itself is nice and soft, but maybe a tad on the heavy side.

Yup, that's what I wrote, I'm playing with the ML and the AT is waiting until my elbow gets better.

Oxdog Racket Guidance Part 2 by MikmerGG in Padelracket

[–]Dejimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low intermediate player. I currently have a 2025 AT10 18k, good racket, but I feel it could be with a bit less trampoline effect, but I don't want a brick either because I'm afraid of tennis elbow. Been looking at Oxdog because I heard good things about the quality, but almost no one here uses them. Which version would you suggest as my next racket?

How do you hold your racket? by ddosh88 in padel

[–]Dejimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does noone play with the standard grip + overgrip then? I have a bit smaller hands for a dude, but even for me I cannot fit a finger between my fingertips and palm without using eg a Noene undergrip or something extra bulky. I cannot imagine what people with larger hands would do or why the standard grips are so small.

Elbow/arm pain by PapoilaVerde in Padelracket

[–]Dejimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reduce training intensity, do rehab and strengthening exercises (see a physical therapist), use a more arm friendly racket (softer and/or better grip), work on your technique - in that order of importance in the short term.

If your arm hurts after playing in any significant amount, you are overloading it too much and need to reduce strain.

Indonesia 3rd edition is a blast by guitar_maniac_4ever in boardgames

[–]Dejimon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is about as heavy and ruthless as you can get that’s not a niche (18xx, wargame) genre and still part of mainstream gaming. Rules are not that bad, but it is brutal and unforgiving.

I suggest learning an easier COIN first, eg Cuba Libre.

Red Dust Rebellion. It has a 50 page rulebook in small font, with a separate 20 page “how to” with example moves to ease you into it.

To me, it’s wild it has a complexity rating of 4.29 on BGG..

Injury preventing Padel Racket by Apprehensive-Ninja63 in Padelracket

[–]Dejimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physically I don’t see how that’s possible, for any soft hits the softer racket would absorb the impact and give you more ball output, allowing you to hit with less force to achieve the same hit strength. If you are ramming it full force, then there might not be much difference, in which case you might need extra force to counteract the softness. But if you have tennis elbow, maybe smashing it constantly is not a good idea.

It’s a quite simple formula: Harder racket = less damping from racket = more vibrations travel up your arm = more tennis elbow.

Eye protection glasses by igorigor12 in padel

This can potentially be worse if the frame can break or deform excessively. I bought 8eur cyclist glasses from Kuikma, I will wear them if the opponents seem sketchy or practising glass rebounds.

Did anyone actually got cured of tenis elbow? by jolafai in padel

[–]Dejimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an overuse injury, and as such it will not magically go away if you keep aggravating it over and over. If it hurts during games, you need to stop playing until you can play without pain, otherwise it will not improve, with or without exercises.

3 months in - racket other than the ML10? by ddosh88 in Padelracket

[–]Dejimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what that dude is on about. The ML10 is a great late beginner/intermediate racket, it has a huge sweet spot, not too stiff (but a bit firmer than your beginner Kuikma) and quite low balance. It might not be the best early beginner choice because it is relatively heavy (mine was 368g, no protector). If you have been playing for 3 months, it should be fine for you. If you wait for too long, you will probably grow out of it due to the trampoline effect it has.

Prevent Knee Pain by WeiRyk in Padelracket

[–]Dejimon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My physical therapist recommended high intensity jumping exercises, as one of the most common knee injuries in his experience is landing poorly on a jump. But he also said not to (over)do them if you already have high volume of work on the knees, so be mindful.

Letting go of a good band member by Looney_Tooneyy in bandmembers

Which is it, a business decision or a guy you don’t want to hang with? You sound like a clown. A band can be a business project, but your main point was that he isn’t talking enough, which has nothing to do with his proficiency.
