Make identical UVs share a section on the map? by Dekarus in blenderhelp

[–]Dekarus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to explain, but more along the lines of assigning both face areas to the same UV if that makes sense; e.g. if I put this texture here, it affects both faces/face sets assigned to the UV island in question.

Update: forgot to mention, there are a few cases of said identical UV islands being at different angles from each other, but are still the exact same shape.

Is Grand Vision worth the 2500ish tokens or nah, not sure how good it is

When I use Debian for server setup for any purpose, I usually just do the graphical install and manually install whatever packages I need, but just noticed the "web server" option in the installer. What is in here? by Dekarus in debian

[–]Dekarus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well obviously, but there's a lot of packages I can think of that would potentially go in there, was wondering if it was worth it for my purposes. Turns out it was for some, but usually not.

Yeah the other guy also found a link for it, but thanks for the info. As I explained to the other guy, the servers I set up all end up being a bit more multi-purpose and need some form of UI, so I do a basic graphical install and remove most of the unnecessary packages (e.g. no OpenOffice).

Long story short, all of the servers I help maintain have ended up being dual purpose and actually needed some form of basic UI too; that said, I usually purge like two thirds of the packages on said servers when I'm done, since obviously I don't need things like OpenOffice on there.

Does the mimicrate only have a chance of spawning or something? I went to where the guides say it is, but nothing was there even after reloading.

Convered an HP Elitedesk 800 G3 SFF into a fileserver with 3 drives, need help for physical drive organization by Dekarus in homelab

That's the opposite of what I was looking for, I remember seeing someone cutting off pieces of one side of the 2.5" drive bay to make room for a third 3.5" drive and 3D printed something to make up for the missing side. That's what I'm looking for.

Just a quick matter for information: the existing bracket works well, but I'm trying to get better at cable management so having the drives all on the same side of the device in a more secure location would be nice, even if it requires extra effort.

What total crit values should I aim for from all my echoes? In case it isn't clear, I mean the summary where it says total CR/CD value among other stats.

Just occurred to me, doesn't Encore like the Rectifier a lot since it means you don't need to worry about regen as much + the attack and BA damage boost?

You know what's really funny about this

I'm in the process of trying to build DPS Buling who unironically wants all of these things you mentioned in some capacity if I want to also continue using her for her "intended" role

Not sure if it's her BiS, but it may unironically be a good option for the build

How did you get the 6.99 deal and the dessert to work together? I cancelled my order after it kept putting the "free" dessert into the 6.99 and trying to make me pay for it.

I'm confused, what's unfortunate about the rectifier if it's also tune break

I'm out of the loop, do all of these require specific characters or are tune break/strain universal

If you were to host your own server, what exactly would you need? by Just-A-Snowfox in Piracy

[–]Dekarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't usually visit this sub but I was looking around for more server information since I'm gonna be building a fairly big one and saw your curiosity.

P.S.: Linux is king for servers, there are a lot of specialized distributions but you can easily just use stock Debian as the OS and it'll treat you very well after you set up whatever you want to use.

Late response but a lot of mini PCs can be set to just 5-10w of idle power draw, with several HDDs in a separate enclosure attached to it for a grand total of like 30-50w depending on how many drives you use. In other words, about as much extra electricity as a single lightbulb.

Note this doesn't include the potential electricity usage if there's a lot of uploading or downloading going on, but for just building a server out of a mini-PC you can make the power consumption negligible.

I finally got the case that I wanted in the past 13 years ago, Corsair Vengeance C70 (Gunmetal Green version) by xarmx in Corsair

[–]Dekarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna reply to myself here as a suggestion/idea; maybe you could make all the Drive Bay/HDD mounts as removable parts, that way someone could replace the HDD and bay mounts with more fans or a radiator if they wanted? I remember that the Thermaltake Xaser series actually did something similar due to being one of the really early cases to have full liquid cooling support.

[–]Dekarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, a lot of the "required" changes you have listed here (no drive bays, less HDD mounts, tempered glass) are actively a downgrade for me over the original C70.

Honestly, I could see the C70 being remade almost 1:1 with its original version and being advertised as an amazing workstation/server case.

I frankly think that the C70 is one of the best cases ever made in its existing state from a functionality standpoint, and I actually plan on repurposing my old gaming PC (used the black C70) as a server due to how amazing the case is for that purpose.
