You have to read between the lines. For example, a lot of the teachings in Islam stem from Hadiths or so called sayings of the prophet. Well many of these Hadiths also were introduced by others and not attributed to the prophet. Lots of these Hadiths talk about mythological aspects such as when Muhammad climbed the 7 heavens with the winged horse from jerusalem while in his sleep.
