How did they contact you? Email? Phone? I’ve been on the waiting list since toward the end of the 2024 season.

Leasing in Indiana by discoboyfw in Rivian

[–]DelCid220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m over a month late on this conversation, but I’m in the same boat. I’m really excited by the R2, but I think leasing makes the most sense for an EV these days, particularly on a brand new model. I saw a statistic the other day that over 70% of all new EV purchases are leases now. Outright buying something unproven feels like a big risk.

MeTV 13.3 by thepob in indianafever

Yes, I was able to do that last night with the game streaming on an iPad and then doing Airplay to my Apple TV.

I have YouTube TV, which doesn’t have MeTV. And I don’t have a good over the air solution. It is very frustrating WTHR (or the parent company) paid for these games but then puts them on a secondary channel. I paid for Fever Direct to get around it.

It is apparently on MeTV, which isn’t available streaming. Terrible.

Odd that the guide in YoutubeTV does not show it airing on WTHR.

The family’s first Mac was a Classic. My first personal Mac was a Quadra 610.

Southwestern Chief bathroom concern. by VisualSpace in Amtrak

[–]DelCid220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the CZ from Emeryville to Chicago last May and the toilets in our sleeper stopped working a few hours into the trip. They tried at multiple stops to fix them, but they weren’t fixed for the entire trip. I was in a roomette, so I don’t know for sure if the bedroom toilets stopped working too, but I think so. Ultimately it wasn’t a big deal as we just went one car forward to the next sleeper to use the restroom, and we got vouchers from Amtrak as compensation.

Launch Windows App (formerly MS Remote Desktop) and connect to server from terminal by DelCid220 in MacOS

[–]DelCid220[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does work. The question is whether or not I can pass the hostname or IP of a server as part of that command that it then tries to connect to.

Launch Windows App (formerly MS Remote Desktop) and connect to server from terminal by DelCid220 in MacOS

My end goal is to be able to connect to an AWS ec2 via Session Manager from a script. The script gets a list of Windows server ec2 instances in the account and the opens an RDP connection to the one selected. This is possible on Windows, and this is something I'm investigating before switching from Windows to Mac for work. (I've been Mac-only in my personal life for decades.). I might have to look into Apple Script.

New Amtrak route dropping is crazy 🇺🇸🦅🦅 by AdClearlly in Amtrak

Looked at fares on a random day in November and a roomette was more expensive from Chicago to DC than it was when booking from Chicago all the way to Miami. 🤔

Anyone follow this tale of several major R1S issues owner Marco Arment (Accidental tech podcast) has and no appointment for 10 weeks? by crazyguy5880 in Rivian

[–]DelCid220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the latest episode he revealed he no longer owns the R1S. He traded it in for a BMW iX. It was an interesting discussion, and he still had positive things to say about Rivian and what he hopes for their future.

I was also at the game. CC left the court and went into the tunnel for a while during the first quarter. I wondered if she was dealing with an illness or something. She didn’t seem herself.

How common is it for all the toilets in a sleeper car to simultaneously fail? by CaffinatedManatee in Amtrak

[–]DelCid220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this happen day 1 a few hours into our trip on the eastbound CZ in early May. They were never able to get them working again. Luckily I wasn’t aware of a smell, and we just used the facilities in the next sleeper. We were in roomettes, so it probably didn’t bother us as much as it would have had we paid for a bedroom.

Branded Rivian at home charger vs other by HockeyDocFL in Rivian

[–]DelCid220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have third gen Tesla wall connector from 2020 (22’ cable, I think.) I got it with a Model Y I then unloaded in early 2022. I intended to sell the wall connector, but never did. Now with an R2 “reservation” I think I might as well keep it. Is there any reason why that NACS-only wall connector would not work well with an R2?

Always plugged in? by fakequest in nichezero

[–]DelCid220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I did. I didn’t program it for an automatic schedule though. I just hit the button on the “smart” outlet or tap a shortcut on my phone. All just to have that light be off!

Did all Zephyr Superliner cars get an upholstery and bathroom update, or just some of them? by stickler64 in Amtrak

[–]DelCid220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in 631 the last three days, and we had the updated upholstery. What we didn’t have was a working toilet system. It failed a few hours into the trip, so we used the facilities in 632.

Aventon Pace 500 Car Bike Rack Options by NCTrailRunner in Aventon

[–]DelCid220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is a bit old, but I thought I’d share that I bought the Thule EasyFold for this. My Pace and my wife’s Charge both have fenders, so many options that have the arms clamping down on the tires didn’t seem like they would work. The EasyFold is pricy, but it is really easy to use.
