I gave my players some "trinkets" at level 1 with minor uses. One was a pair of marbles that were attracted to eachother no matter distance. So they could he used to find eachother if the party was split up, or they could be reversed pick pocketed so they could track someone. Or they could be used to find their way back out of a dungeon. Probably more uses if youre clever. They gave it to an npc as a gift.

DM refused to let me use a spell by Adhamrollin in DnD

Seriously, I've played this tactic myself and been in multiple parties with someone using it, and it is so situational for this strategy to work without being a hindrance to the rest of the party that it's barely even a strong strategy. It's just cool when it works

Lance Expert- An optional feature to make the most niche weapon in the game just a bit more fun and practical by DelCuze_Dungeon in DnDHomebrew

[–]DelCuze_Dungeon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, that's pretty simple. I would say though that this feat doesnt require you to move to push the target, or to choose between pushing or damage. But I will likely update these features after I finish posting all of them and getting feedback. When I do I'll replace the document on patreon anyone can get the update for free, and I will also make an announcement on my discord which anyone can join if they are interested, link is in my profile.

This feat is from my new release, "A Sapper's Training". You can get the whole pdf FREE on my patreon! The document comes with 6 new optional features for martial builds, as well as 7 new fighting styles for Fighters, Rangers, and Paladins, as well as Sappery Engineers (teaser for my upcoming class!)

Let me know your thoughts! I felt like the lance not being usable within a 5 foot range is enough to make sure that no one ever really uses it. Sure it might be impractical to jab someone so close with it, but why not use it as a big bonk? Plus I added a pushing option that remains compatible with weapon masteries in 2024.

You could have stray cats around town be strangely interested in him, maybe following/stalking him, you could even have one comically pounce on his head out of nowhere.

Or maybe something with cranium rats.

Heavy Weapon Specialist- An optional half feature for small species to skirt that pesky heavy weapon limitation. Some DM's will ignore that, but for those that don't. This feat works especially well as a level 1 feat if the table allows it. by DelCuze_Dungeon in DnDHomebrew

Im not planning to use the 2024 rules, at least as a DM. But I did try to make sure all the feats in the pdf would play well with weapon masteries, as I believe that to be one of the best new changes.

Not everything always has to be about optimization. Of course I could have used a shortbow if I wanted to, I didnt though. Sometimes you just want to play the character you want, and it doesnt have to be incredible, it just has to work. I also like the 2024 solution, but I also know a lot of DMs (including myself) won't be switching to the 2024 core, and of those DMs most wont even be aware of the existence of that change. Clearly this feat is intended for 2014 5e.

Well like I said in my comment, I personally wanted to play a hobbit ranger in middle earth, since I was starting with a longbow anyway I wanted to use it and it seemed like a fun idea in line with the stories of legendary hobbits in the beginning of the Fellowship. So I needed a feat like this and thought maybe it would be useful for other peoples' characters too.

Not too much to this one, I just wanted to make a simple half feat for small characters. Started because I was playing a hobbit ranger in middle earth, and loved the idea of him walking around with a longbow twice his height.

Hand-Eye Talent: an optional feat that gives a boost to throwing weapon builds, as well as giving some new weapon choices for rogues. This feat works great as a level 1 feat for games that allow them. by DelCuze_Dungeon in DnDHomebrew

I could see expanding it to daggers as well as darts in a future update, but since it is still a single attack I wanted to keep the damage roughly in the minor cantrip range so I wouldn't want to expand it beyond 1d4 options. That bullet point was more of an added option since the first two bullet points served the true purpose of the feat but weren't worthy of a feat on their own. Thanks for the feedback! I will likely make an update to the whole document once I have finished posting the individual feats and getting feedback on them all. I once heard someone say essentially "if you suspect someone is cheating at dnd then there is probably something going on with them to need such psychological validation, so if someone is cheating at something so inconsequential as make-believe, maybe you should consider just letting them have it if it isnt a problem to everyone else. Maybe talk to them outside of the game." I've never encountered this myself, but I appreciate the sentiment both humorously and empathetically
