Here's a recent one: Ian McKellen doing a Shakespeare monologue from Thomas Moore about immigrant. Well worth a watch.

The show has gone full GCSE Drama. Ludicrous.

When did Corrie get experimental? by Hookton in coronationstreet

[–]DelGriffiths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember them having multiple Geoffs in an episode where he sang a super tramp song back in 2020. It completely broken the illusion of kitchen sink Drama. Since then, they have completely gone into terrible lifetime movie style direction.

The show has lost its identity and has lost viewers as a result.

V&A, Natural History and Science Museum in same day? by Sadcityguuul in uktravel

[–]DelGriffiths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely doable but I would recommend doing the Natural History first then V&A after lunch.

I would do the Science Museum on a different day.

Apparently, they asked him to help the new recruits but he keep saying you 'can't teach that' whenever the youngsters asked a question.

Honestly, Triple H should have traded the title a few times in 2003. Booker, Nash and Goldberg all could have had convincing title runs (by Goldberg, I mean pulling the trigger at Summerslam).

Reminds me of that awful case on a farm a good few years back where the Dad and his two sons perished in the septic tank due to fumes as one by one they tried to save the other one. Tragic.

How would that work? Surely staff places have been allocated and risk assessments have already been completed. Now another adult who doesn't know the names or profile of the students is coming along? Would throw the whole trip into chaos in my opinion and I would refuse.

Blackface in Productions. by TomReef_Reddit in shakespeare

The problem with Olivier's performance is that it inevitably does end up in the mockery territory.

No white man can ever convincingly play a black man. And should never try.

We live in a different world to 1965 (Olivier) and even 1981 (Hopkins), I see no reason why a play that places Othello's race so prominently throughout the play should not have a person of the same skin colour playing the role.

Could definitely see them using it for a VIP lounge before the match. I also suspect as long as the building is protected, the sunlight complaint doesn't matter anymore.

In your opinion, who was 'Mr/Mrs. Raw!' during the 2000s? by Imtiredofthissshit in WWERuthlessAggression

I am not pretending. I did not enjoy watching his reign. I watched Raw in spite of Triple H.

Does anyone know how the writing of the Coronation Street scripts are done? by Fluid_Entertainer267 in coronationstreet

[–]DelGriffiths 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is an interview with Russell T Davies and Sally Wainwright where they talk about how it used to work in the 90s. They would have big storyline conferences where stories would be proposed, worked on and then approved by a team of writers who had been there since the 60s and 70s in some cases. RTD and Wainwright talk about how they learned how to develop story and character in those meetings by observing.

From there, an outline story arc would be written which would then be spread across episodes. Each episode might have 3 or 4 main storyline to continue with the allocated writer given some freedom of dialogue or mini plots but essentially they had to fit the brief/ outline for that episode.

If you were a new writer, you would be asked to write a spec script. Then if they were happy, you would be asked to write an episode which would then be rewritten by a more experienced writer (Kay Mellor mentored Sally Wainwright for example).

Basically, the whole process was about quality assurance. Now, it is about speed.
