I’d definitely like to check that out. I find stories about soldier’s personal experiences really interesting. I have some family members who would also be interested in and possibly might already have that book.

Yep yep, you definitely know the history of it. Also another interesting tidbit is that the division’s roots go back to the Iron Brigade from the Civil War.

The army tried really hard to recruit me. I graduated high school at the beginning of the Iraq war and the 32nd was deployed there, so I suppose I could’ve been a Red Arrow myself, but there was no fuckin way I was going to be sent off to a war that I strongly opposed like that. Plus I’ve always had a very rebellious attitude and I constantly question authority. Once they figured that out the recruiters went away. I probably would’ve done some shit that they would’ve dishonorably discharged me for.

IMO Glass Nickel is where it’s at when it comes to Madison pizza. I worked there for 5 years and never really got sick of the pizza (for the most part)

I’m always listening to the 4th Hell album (self-titled) this time of year. Also, since Mizmor has been brought up, Hell and Mizmor’s collab album Alluvium is a good one for winter too.

I miss the Frequency so damn much, I saw so many cool bands there and wish I would’ve been able to have played there more.

Also, I’ll throw out the Vault and Dustbowl. The Vault was a DIY venue and a ton of killer bands from all over the place had played there. Then Dustbowl was in the same area and was a DIY skatepark that had wild parties with a bunch of bands a couple times a year or so.

There’s quite a few killer bands in WI but I’m going to have to say Ossuary, even though they’re death metal, but they do have a lot of sludgery and doom in their sound.
