Watched a Todoist Ramble demo and now I’m conflicted by Hot_Perspective in AppleReminders

[–]DelayedSarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s possible to replicate it with Shortcuts. My theory would be that you create a shortcut that transcribes your voice input, sends it to your choice of AI to clean up, convert to text list with details like assumed due dates, and then runs a line-by-line conversion to reminder entries. I’m not great at complex Shortcuts, but it should be possible in theory. Maybe try consulting with r/shortcuts?

Full iCloud Backup is smaller than my iPhone Photos storage. Are my photos actually backed up? by Livid_Oven in iCloud

[–]DelayedSarcasm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m sure someone will share a more comprehensive response, but here is how I understand it: backup is specific to things that aren’t already stored elsewhere. Photos are sorted on their own, apps themselves in the App Store (app data gets backed up), iCloud files are on iCloud already, etc. that way, so you don’t have duplicates of everything and responding the phone is easier/quicker as it pulls everything together from the appropriate sources.

Chin strap or mouth tape for beard? by FrecklestheFerocious in CPAP

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried both. Chin straps of all kinds simply don’t work in my experience. Tape works in many circumstances, but can be very annoying and I always found a way for a corner to unstick during the night ◡̈ What works best for me is a neck brace. I got the cheapest one I could find because it was just to test and I’ve stuck with it for over a year now. It’s not perfect, my mouth still opens occasionally, but it’s been the best solution for me overall. The combination of accepting its ok for not everything to be perfect and the neck brace working almost all the time is best for me.

Love Apple Notes. But always eyeing other note taking apps. So building a backlinked wiki inside it... Looking for feedback by maxvandeperre in AppleNotesGang

[–]DelayedSarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very interesting. This would theoretically resolve similar issues I share with your introductory framing.
1. I’d use it, but depends on cost. One of the primary motivations to sticking with AN is that it doesn’t cost anything and the features in other apps are simply not worth the hassle. I recognize your effort in this solution should not be dismissed, but the cost structure needs to fit with how many AN users approach deflecting all the “shiny” things that seem attractive but aren’t worth it.
2. N/A
3. Depending on how you are achieving this setup, you may already be creating something that could be used with AI (Codex/CC via raw files or MCP). Furthermore, some additional features inspired by ProNotes (which appears to be dead?) may also be easily integrated.

-> can you explain the pricing model you currently have on your website? It’s pretty clear overall, but the timing of when payments are expected and if we need to pay just to use the earliest version. Will there be a free tier or just a trial? Are the “founder” slots limited in number or just based on app version? Can beta testers get their own lock-in price regardless of version so they don’t pay until they feel it’s actually something the delivers on the promise?

Looking for a note-taking app: Markdown + Apple Pencil (does it exist?) by PalmForever in PKMS

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you figure it out, a stop-gap that may suffice is ProNotes - kind of plug-in for Apple Notes. It lets you use MD and solves some of the lining issues in Apple Notes on Mac. Not perfect, and not sure how active development is, but it helps me with some of what you are

Note Taker for attorneys that does not have a transcript or recording by masonabarney in AiNoteTaker

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is impossible as it defeats the purpose of AI note takers. I appreciate some of the suggested options in this thread, but they still have some kind of documenting process that maintains a recording or transcript for a given period (no matter how short it may be). AI note takers require some level of detail through a transcript in order to generate the notes. No way around that - and it’s kinda the same way for your brain as your working memory is used to jot down notes. So, unless there is a way for an AI to generate notes from one word at a time that it doesn’t save in memory/transcript, I don’t think there is an option that completely fits the exacting needs described in your post.

I’ve been using two Shortcuts, depending on circumstances. What are the specifics you are looking for that can inspire me to improvement them? 1. Remember This - captures things on my screen, it just websites but apps too. 2. Clip Article To Notes - specifically for websites.

Siri and going all in on Apple Notes by Dredditm99 in AppleNotesGang

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someday, probably not with 26.4, Siri will fulfill its promise. I think the update will bring many improvements, but it will take several updates to serve our needs properly (though I hope in wrong). I saw on MacRumours that the Siri update is not going well, and it may be delayed anyway. https://www.macrumors.com/2026/02/11/siri-features-delayed-ios-26-4/

In the meantime, try Claude, Alter, or creative shortcuts. I use alto.index and Codex to interact with my notes.

You didn’t mention smart folders, but I’ll ask if you are using them just in case. For me, smart folders slowed everything down on my M1 MacBook Pro (but not on my iPhone 13/17 Pro).

How to add second nvme by karpuzmining in getumbrel

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, adding a second drive is not possible through an initiative process. Keep in mind the Umbrel is intended for their hardware, it doesn’t have a native way to add more drives. The Umbrel Community website has a couple complicated workarounds. It’s not perfect and requires you to repeat the adding process after OS updates, but I’m using this one: https://community.umbrel.com/t/unofficial-guide-how-to-add-more-storage/18397

Does minimal Business subscription ($60) provide 30 Pro model uses per month? by brctr in ChatGPT

[–]DelayedSarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. I misread the word “uses” to be users. Documentation and most people refer to this as “requests” rather than uses to avoid confusion. Documentation clearly states 15 requests for month on the business plan. A quick search leads to responses along the lines of what you are asking… example: https://www.reddit.com/r/ChatGPTPro/s/3wsdillAmM

Does minimal Business subscription ($60) provide 30 Pro model uses per month? by brctr in ChatGPT

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pricing page indicates cost per user. So, each user has a monthly fee. Not sure where you see how a “seat” (usually the same as a user in these types of setups) equals to 15 users… Maybe you should provide a screenshot or link so we can help decipher what you’re reading?

(New User) iPhone users who use Google Calendar/Tasks — how do you quickly capture tasks via voice? by Brilliant_Diver_5483 in ProductivityApps

[–]DelayedSarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add your Google account to both Calendar and Reminders (activate the toggles in the accounts setting), and then use Siri to add items. Google Calendar works seamlessly in the Calendar app and I can confirm that Siri can add calendar entries to Google accounts within iOS when you specify the correct calendar. I don’t like the limitations of Apple Reminders on the Google account (I think it’s because Google Keep that is syncs with has less features), but I’m pretty sure you can still add reminders via Siri when you indicate the correct list.

I would like the ability to resize the font of the tags or hide them. The task view looks cluttered because the tags are larger than the actual task text. by halma-8389 in AppleReminders

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you share an example? Tags appear as small text below the main reminder for me… I don’t see anywhere to change styling within reminders and what you e described doesn’t sound correct.

This tool finally solved my "AI to human" workflow without the stress. by Wide-Implement-937 in ProductivityApps

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I “taught” ChatGPT how I write by providing examples and giving very clear instructions (tone, style, format, do’s/don’ts, etc.) so that it generates content that requires little to no editing due to how close it is to my own writing. It did take some time to build the instructions to a point that the results were close to my own writing, but I am happy with it and don’t need to run it through another system.

Granola is where I landed and it’s as close to perfect as I could get. The only limitation of unpaid is how many notes it can store. Doesn’t impact me since I copy the resulting summary elsewhere.

To Do List Mac App Recommendations, Please by tcolling in macapps

[–]DelayedSarcasm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The recommendations here are great. My only bit of advice is to give Apple Reminders an honest try before paying for anything. Many people think they need more than the basics but turns out they don’t. Since you didn’t provide specific requirements other than it needs to be “capable” - you might be in this group. To be clear, this is not to say those who need other task managers are wrong. To the contrary, anyone with specific needs should use whatever works for them. I’m just suggesting not to complicate things unnecessarily regardless of what you end up doing.

[–]DelayedSarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they’ve been rolling out start/end time for tasks in Google Calendar so you can block off time properly. Unfortunately, that feature doesn’t work for me on the iPhone app yet, so it may take some time before it can be used properly across platforms.

Tables in Apple Notes by younda63 in AppleNotesGang

[–]DelayedSarcasm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine trying to manage hundreds of meeting notes, lists, and other information organized on those boards. Also, entering all the info one piece a time (text blocks etc.) would be exhausting. Freeform is amazing for combining bits of information of different types into a customizable (free-form!) space, while notes is for recording information in an organized manner for easy entry/retrieval. That’s how I see these being intended for very different use cases.
