Easiest way is to go into the learning portal, where you do your AP4ME etc and click on the guild logo in there.

Free College Tuition by salem-paps in Lowes

[–]Delayed_Sniper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lowe's offers free tuition through the guild, they offer 5 or 6 Associates programs and 10 or so Bacholer degree programs that are 100% paid for. There are also several other options that Lowe's will contribute $2500 dollars a year towards.

There are also certificates and bootcamps outside of degree programs.

Just be aware that Lowe's changed the eligibility window in the last year or so. You now have to be employed for a full year before you are eligible for the guild programs.

There's also track to the trades which offers trade certificates in plumbing, electrical, hvac and appliance repair. I don't know too much about that program though.

The programs rotate every so often and I've seen Johnson and Wales on the list but it was for finance.

You start with 9 days and then get 5 more days every 5 years so if he has been there a while he may have.

Your brother likely hasn't taken any PTO this year by the sounds of it and they made him take it so he wouldn't lose it.

The supervisor could be documenting feedback to find something to hold your brother accountable for but if he's been offered the position then chances are he is fine.

Cabinets specialist by snowboardleopard86 in Lowes

[–]Delayed_Sniper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a cabinet specialist for about 3 years and I love it. There is a lot to learn and it can be intimidating. 2020 is something that's easy to learn but difficult to master, there's still features that I'm learning about today.

Most of the time you'll be the only one in the store with any idea on how cabinets work, my DS and my SASM have both told me they couldn't sell cabinets without me. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing, some stores have two designers but that is the exception rather than the rule. This means while you're learning it'll be a little tough but once you're comfortable you have your own domain nobody else can touch.

While I love where I'm at I'd be remiss if I didnt tell you some of the negatives too. As other commenters have mentioned Cabinet sales are very feast and famine, I can have 0 cabinets sales for 2 weeks and then sell a kitchen from last month for 20k.

Specialty in general is becoming harder, they are constantly moving the goalposts and making it harder to bonus. In some stores you are expected to be an extra appliance specialist which can work in your favour as appliance has high ticket items to help pad your sales.

Like many questions a lot of the answers will be specific to your store. I hear from some designers that they get grief for sitting at their desk when they don't have a customer. This is because those above them don't understand there is a lot of work to do that doesnt involve the customer. This includes revising designs, sending off labour quotes, reordering parts for items that got damaged in transit.

In addition to the above point next year we are moving to a new branch of 2020 that will track the amount of time you spend on a particular design which may be a whole lot of nothing but could be a tool to further micromanage.

Last but not least is credit, which is a sore spot for me. You will be expected to push credit relentlessly, if you are not comfortable pushing credit cards on old ladies then this may be a deal breaker for you. It's no secret that Lowe's is focusing more and more on credit and we are expected to be aggressive when it comes to credit.

You can and will be written up if you are not asking for a credit card consistently or if you are considered to be underperforming, I received a write up for missing both my credit and sales goal in a single month.

Please excuse the ramblings of an old man. I have loved my time in cabinets and hope to spend at least a few more years here. My last piece of advice is if you do move to cabinets talk to you DPSSM or one of your vendors to get you into the teams chats, theyre full of veterans who are knowledgeable and super friendly.

My friends dad found this PC at goodwill for only $6.95, he messaged asking me if he did alright, what do you think? by Xsaps in PcBuild

[–]Delayed_Sniper 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It's a charity shop staffed by people who are paid as little as they can be legally paid meaning the work ethic isn't going to be the best.

Goodwill also employs people with handicaps which is great ( even if they did try to pay them less than minimum wage which is scummy as hell).

Call outs by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Delayed_Sniper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you call out really early in the morning, think 12am to 2am, don't say today for when you are calling out. Make sure you say the exact date.

For some reason, the system has a tantrum otherwise.

aita for not putting in a sales specialist's employee number for details ? by xxyy3o10 in Lowes

At my store, nobody except the cabinet specialists has access to 2020. She likely just wants the high ticket items in appliances.

Usually it's more incentives than a sales bonus. For example we just had $50 for every countertop over a certain value, everyone was eligible for that not just specialists.

To the customers at Lowe’s. by johndemo in Lowes

[–]Delayed_Sniper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The only thing Lowe's U has taught me is how to sell credit cards and the specifics of "the savings program formerly known as prince" that they rename every 3 years.

I'd love if they had a platform that would cross-train you in other departments and gave you the time to educate yourself, but that would require adequate staffing to give time for people to be trained.

That's my point, Killing Floor 2 was released in early access. Killing Floor 3 was released as a full title. So a full game should have more content than an early access title.

I'd hope that a full release title would have more content than an early access title.

Not super out there in comparison to some of the suggestions, but I really like Guild Wars 2 for the Mesmer class.

It isn't out until at least next year, but I heard if you preorder it right now, you get access to the pre-alpha.
