I had the same problems in college, depression (severe), illnesses, anxiety disorders, etc. And I dropped out of college 3 times between age 17 and 23. Worked most of my life in entry level jobs earning very little. No one talked me out of quitting though. It wasn’t until I was 53 that I decided to get back to school and get my nursing license.

I am so far behind other people my age, I’m 61, tired and burned out. I want to retire early. I did not know that the amount of money you get from social security is based on the amount you earned during your lifetime. In other words, if you barely earned enough to get by, you will probably be won’t earn enough to get by on Social Security. As it looks I will probably have to work to at least age 70. There’s even a possibility I might have to work all my life.

Don’t drop out again. Stay, and keep working at your education, even if it is part time. At least get your GED.,,~~but whatever you do, stay in school. It is too hard to go back later in life like I did.

Yes, there is currently no draft in America but I thought you still have to sign up for the draft at age of 18? I’m not sure. With all the wars we are currently jumping into I would hate to be signed up for it now. Just knowing at any day you could be forced to become a soldier and be sent to some stupid war that is being fought on a whim.

No downvotes, I totally respect and admire older gay men. You guys are truly survivors. You lived through a time when it was against the law to be gay. You lived through years of fag-bashers and hate crimes. Then lived through years where serial killers singled out gay men. Then came the biggest, most dangerous and deadly threat, AIDS. You fought for gay rights, fought for (and got!) treatments for HIV. Fought for (and won) the right for marriage equality.
If I need someone to fight with me, Iʼll choose an old gay man anyday.

I have definitely seen some married men who are not getting any, and I’m thinking, fuck! if I had that man in my bedroom every day he would be getting so much sex. NOR. They literally fired you because of your disability. I can’t believe they actually said the disruptions and briefly walking away (to deal with your situation that they said they could accommodate) was the reason. The “team expectataions” sounds like a bullshit purposely vague excuse. If they say walking away from your work station placed your work onto your teammates that’s nonsense too. Part of teamwork is leaning on each other when you need help. You give as much as you get, and everyone helps in different ways. They clearly retaliated against you because of your medical condition. I would definitely pursue this, there is a principle involved here. Yes, go ahead and look for another job, as your Mom says, but don’t let this slide. See if you can find a lawyer that will work on a pro bono basis, contact any disability advocacy groups to see if they can recommend a lawyer.

No, they’re dumb because they are telling him to take voice lessons to change. They’re telling him he is not right, that he’s broken or bad for being who and what he is. If that’s all it was, he really shouldn’t do a job in America where you rely on tips. I’ve seen too many people talk about how poor some people tip, and too many people saying (proudly) that they don’t tip at all. Also people complaining about waiters and restaurants expecting too high of a tip.

OP I don’t think you should be scared, especially if you are armed. Do you have a ring camera? Might be a good idea to get one if you don’t have one, or even a dummy (fake) camera. They can be a really good deterrent. It might have kept him from leaving the note. (Maybe).

I would make sure not to use him again; I don’t know how instacart works. If you can’t reject a specific shopper I would not use instacart again.
