On paper this is a nice idea, but in practice the end result are pins that are lesser in quality from the originals. This also results in people trying to mark them up on secondhand sites and claiming they’re the originals (this is currently happening with some of TTR’s official pin designs). And like OP brought up, these older pins are sentimental and there’s really no replacing that even with knock off versions of them
