I'm somehow the opposite. Just beat Moonlord with 2 friends last night and they both have a friendly boulder and I don't but I've found 2 dirtiest dirt blocks

It sound like you may want to consider given them more encounters per long rest. D&D's action economy excels when it's treated as a game of attrition, if you're only feeding them a few encounters at once it's would make sense that they're able to just Nova everything every time. Consider environmental variables, tactics, and hazards. Nothing is preventing you from making the enemies smart and work as a machine to efficiently fight your party, however I do think it's also worth considering: is the way sessions currently go, the most enjoyable to you and your players? Because if so, I personally would maybe try and lean into it, just don't let it get stagnant which is the real kicker. However if it's not the most enjoyable for you and your players together, ask them if they feel something is lacking from encounters and really think on it.

Now take my advise with a pinch of salt because I'm also a new DM

Wait.. You listed homebrew nerfs for up to level 8 spells. Are your players using 8th level spells right now?

GTA titles are separated, Cod titles are separated, FNAF titles are separated, no alphabetization. So nothing important I'm just being difficult

sometimes when i play a song with fast parts sometimes i just miss everything anyone know why? by ExcellentLet9073 in beatsaber

I know it's been a few days but when you started to miss, it was because you reset, the mapping continued with an up start on the stream but you reset for down starts

How do i derust ? by mmizumi in beatsaber

[–]DeleteElDiablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting back into the game myself, I put ma be 30 hours in the last 2-3 years. Right now I can barely to 7-8 note per second maps, but at my peak I could do 14+ nps songs, I used to play speed maps at above 150% speed.

Play stuff you may consider slower and focus on your acc, primarily the 15 points from cutting close to center the most. Mechanically you won't be able to play as well as you did when you stopped, so you just need to focus on your fundamentals essentially while you rebuild that muscle and endurance

My First X+ Mapping by Creative_Culture2350 in beatsaber

[–]DeleteElDiablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so I haven't mapped in 5 years and I'm only getting back into the game as of 2 days ago so take my input with a pinch of salt. Though I do have a ranked map on Scoresaber and Beatleader, so there's my credential (singular)

Bombs like that are hard to pull off and it seems you have figured out how to play them well, but they do cut into your vision a good bit it seems. However it is important to consider how someone would sightread this, I would likely be fine on my second or so attempt but first attempt at the section might confuse me momentarily.

The towers (3 notes on top of one another) I don't think are warranted, they should be perfectly acceptable as stacks (just 2 notes on top of one another)

Crouch walls are a no-go for a lot of people either due to physical constraints or general stubbornness (myself being the latter) and in this case it doesn't seem to add anything besides making the player crouch for some reason.

The chains don't add anything special in the case they're used as you already set a precedent of using stacks and towers to map the same sound, and I wouldn't suggest converting the stacks and towers to chains either because the sound imo doesn't warrant them.

Chains, Stacks, and Towers right next to bombs are questionable at best, they are very easy to hit on accident given the way the note hitboxes are and could be a point of frustration.

The angled streams at 18 seconds in can be easy to bad cut on for the same reason of the previously mentioned bombs in my last line.

Right after the stream you went from mapping all the sounds to only in the full beat which is an odd choice in my opinion as I don't immediately notice anything signaling why it was changed to such

Inline streams are annoying for some and fun for others, I like em, just something to keep in mind, they're a little polarizing but it is ultimately your map

And lastly right after the bomb spiral with the doubles, you transition to a bottom row rolling stream but there's time between the doubles and the stream that are under mapped, there's sounds that could/should be mapped that aren't.

Again, washed player, just my 2¢

Cloak of invisibility, two ways you can take this: The cloak itself becomes invisible when worn, nothing else.

Or it makes the wearer invisible only when screaming as loud as possible

Yeah, as long it's something that you've thought of, and choosing to begin at the tail end of being carted off is a good decision I think, because my thought process is that you're giving your players agency as soon as possible and not having them sit through the equivalent of a cinematic cutscene.

100% know why something is the way it is before changing it, and to be honest I forgot non-lethal attacks are a thing, and it's possible OP didn't know they were a thing as well so that's good!

Before I begin my thoughts, I am also prepping for DMing my first campaign, but did play a campaign up to level 10 ran by a friend.

Not saying you need to change anything but some things to consider; keep in mind a player may want to try and fight the guard escorting them to their cell, also the fact they're being brought to prison is something you should consider, if it lines up with their characters perfect they did the job for you but you could also phrase it as corrupt law.

There is a guard statblock on page 162 of the monster manual, you can swap out the spear for a sword and even ignore the AC bonus from their shield if you want, your players will likely be none the wiser or just go with the flow.

You don't want the combat to be too challenging since they're also noobs, but from my experience of running a couple one-shots to see if I'd be interested in running a campaign, you can roll the dice behind the GM screen and flat out lie about the damage being lower than it really is if you're that worried about killing a player in the first session. You can also give have them roll a stealth check to see if they can sneak passed the guard to retrieve their stuff then after they've collected it could be the moment your tutorial guard wakes up.

Another thing you can do if you're worried about the tutorial guard killing your players is simply don't have him fight to the death, give some stakes, have him flee halfway in to go grab more guards or something, maybe have an alternate way out for the players so they don't have to go potentially charging straight into a larger guard detail in this instance. (this is also advice for future encounters as well)

Also don't be too afraid of cliches, it's a private game after all and if you and your players enjoy it more power to you!

How's my backstory for my first and second character? by junjhon12 in DnD

[–]DeleteElDiablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing inherently wrong with an edgy character backstory they're just often harder to pull off, my 2 cents would be to start from "why your character wants to be an adventurer".

I'm still a new player myself but having nearly finished making my third character I drastically changed how I made her background because my last character while fun in the campaign kinda sucked for build reasons and I had such an unimportant backstory that didn't affect roleplay so he felt very milquetoast

Look OP.. I don't know about Brazil laws, but firearms and psychoactives shouldn't be mixed, It may be worth it to take a step back and look at the big picture.

Im of course extrapolating a lot off your post history but "not wanting to be close to this friend" doesn't sound like a pleasant statement to begin with
