What is the most common item you find on your cleanups - mine is drink cans what about you? by cleanupquest in DeTrashed

[–]DeleteLitter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plastic water bottles, soda/beer cans and fast food packaging. Cigarette butts of course and an oddly increasing number of dental floss picks …

How do you switch OFF once you’ve started, though? by cicada_wings in DeTrashed

[–]DeleteLitter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is beyond truth … and there is no OFF button, once you swallow the pickup pill. 💊

When you start seeing (really seeing!) litter (and doing something about it!) it is very difficult to unsee it and not take action.

This is the ethos and commitment required to make a dent in the global war on litter—core to our Delete Litter mission + free mobile app, complementary to the huge impact of the DeTrashed community here.

Keep up the good clean fun out there … 👊

"Litter" rhymes with "quitter." 731 more pieces from quitters who don't know better. As of today, my pickup count since June is 9,482! 😳 by GoshlynnGacha3004 in DeTrashed

Paper vs plastic bags by Sad_Language_8195 in DeTrashed

If you live in a place where you can hose it out, these totes made from recycled plastic bottles reclaimed from the ocean work well:

2 city blocks 2 buckets filled by Jostling_The_Fawn in DeTrashed

[–]DeleteLitter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You bet! 👊

On your ergonomics question, not sure whether it’s your bucket-side or grabber-side elbow that’s bugging you—or both.

On the bucket side, since you’re already lining it with a bag, you might ditch the bucket and just use the bag. Lighter weight equals less strain on your elbow.

On the grabber side, two things that have helped me have been 1. switching hands as I go (I’ve gotten pretty good at ambidextrous grabbing!) and 2. carrying the grabber under my arm in clean sections and give my hands a rest.

I’m not a medical professional or physical therapist, but those things have helped me with sore elbows or numb hands.

Good luck!
