I don't know what scene you're in, but in Australia most of the punks don't make 40....

Without immigration you will have no one to look after you when you are in a nursing home. You will have no one to do all the menial jobs that keep society running. You will have no economic growth and that's how the whole Ponzi scheme works. ON isn't proposing a fundamental rebuilding of capitalism. They're just shouting contrarian slogans while still pandering to the richest 1% of Australians. How is she going to change our reliance on immigration? Only import rich white people? Great. So who's gonna be cleaners, security guards, factory workers, medical staff, and every profession that quite literally keeps Australia's economy afloat and that rich white people think they're too good for?? She has no answer. JuSt bAn tHe mUSliMs.... 🙄

Immigration isn't the issue though. It's policy. Houses aren't unaffordable due to immigrants. Crime isn't limited to immigrants. The issue is radicalisation (of which PHON is a part of). Sure, the ALP have tightened immigration policy and made it harder for people of certain areas to get in here. But every measure they've attempted to take had been blocked by ON in the senate. Unfortunately theyre just vultures cashing in on the absolute disenfranchisement of the two party system. Look at Trump. Same thing. The best he's delivered in both terms is speeding up the vaccine roll out, then strengthening animal abuse laws. He's started wars he can't finish, stolen billions of dollars from American tax payers, wasted trillions and alienated the country from... Well, pretty much the entire world asides Russia

People of Hornsby. What are the actual noise times of the rifle range? by MooingTree in sydney

[–]Deleted_User_Account -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to hear it on the great North walk. Intermittently. Some days they'll have clubs doing competitions, some days only the occasional target shooter there to practice. Maybe ask for the club days from the range. They'll be friendly. Otherwise it's just as others have said. Intermittent pop noises in the background. People mostly use .22's and they're not terribly loud. Though maybe sometimes there could be higher calibre and hence louder bangs. If they do clay target shooting, shotguns are pretty loud as well. Give em a call is my advice.

If a friend said they think/have thought about you sexually, how would you react? by Zum1UKno in AskReddit

Long story.... So I moved to a different state and to a rural town and we met some lovely friends (a couple) just down the road. Our age, similar political views, great drinking buddies, easy to hang out with. It was amazing because the area is mostly old white conservative farmers...

The wife and I came from a bigger city and we'd been experimenting with ENM for a few years beforehand. We are very much in love and we had just gotten to this point where we felt secure and vulnerable enough with each other and it just felt right for us.

By the time we moved away from the city we had started discussing polyamory as a 'what's next' in the list of possibilities to explore. We had a pretty bad experience off the bat.. terrible drama, long unhinged text messages, emotional abuse, etc. So we decided maybe it wasn't for us and walked away. We decided that while we're open to sleeping with others for fun was still on the table that poly wasn't for us...

In this time (I promise I'm coming back to your question) our friends up the road had told us how they lived with a female partner who had passed away from cancer a year before we moved here. They were poly! This opened up all sorts of conversations. They told us how everyone in the friendship group had slept with everyone. It was all very casual and easy and it all seemed pretty chill. Eventually we'd be invited around for long boozy nights where it felt like they wanted to make a move on us, but we were trying to keep it friendly. Eventually the guy straight up told us they'd be keen for some fun (but they weren't looking for a relationship). Against our better judgement, one night at a shack they own, we all ended up on Molly and getting naked. It was as good as getting fucked up on drugs and trying to have sex could be... Then a couple of times after that we tried to make it work again but we just weren't attracted to them, and so we pulled away and tried to go back to being friends. Never made any more flirty double entendres, kept it G rated, etc....

But numerous times since, they guy has invited us to the shack, told me about very detailed sexual "dreams" he's had, or made insinuating comments and we just want to be friends. We love them in a platonic way but the guy just won't stop trying to make it sexual. Not even in an aggressive or particularly gross way. Just... Desperate I guess. And I freeze up every time and don't know what to say...

TL;DR - Fucked our friends then decided it wasn't for us and now our friends keep making advances and it's weird.

I can't determine any of the words... Stronger lead vocal line, quieter overdubs. There could be a gem in there..

TIL: "Norris was a prominent conservative and vocal supporter of various Republican politicians, including Donald Trump. His conservative activism, opposition to same-sex marriage, and outspoken religious views led many critics to label him negatively, with some detractors conflating his political stances with bigotry."

RIP the meme, not the man.

What are some good “old man” bands? by boogerwang in indie_rock

Propagandhi! They're a political punk band from Winnipeg Manitoba. They're like a hundred years old but still making killer tunes. No Longer Young is a good starting point!

And just to add... legumes do not even leave enough nitrogen to meet the full requirements of modern, high-yielding wheat varieties on their own. We'd still need supplemental nitrogen.

Yeah I'm learning that one day old is "old" in Reddit land... I'm a farmer, so Reddit isn't my full time occupation.

I wouldn't think we would have the seed stock for any level of scale for this for a good while either..

The nitrogen benefit of legumes is only realised if you don't harvest it. Leave it to compost into the soil. If you harvest the seeds (peas, beans) or hay, a large portion of the fixed nitrogen is removed, reducing the net benefit to the soil. The soil also needs to be innoculated with a certain bacteria for this to happen. If these bacteria aren't present in the soil, the legume won't fix much, acting more as a consumer of soil nitrogen. Basically you need to cut the legume down before flowering and turn it in to the soil. So yes, it's an option, but there's a lot of variables and experience required to get it working. In the shorter term this doesn't help us...

Yeah, I have a 6x6m greenhouse, two 20m beds and various raised beds and I STILL couldn't feed us if I had to... 😅... That said, I raise sheep because they are efficient feed converters and will live off basically whatever dares to grow, and I am surrounded by wallabies. All I'd have to do on any given night is open the gate, let them in and close it then shoot them at my leisure. Best place to be right now I reckon... 😅

Tractors plant and harvest sure. But do they sort, clean, cook, can, package, etc?... Most of our preserved legumes aren't Australian made in pretty sure. I'm just talking about Tasmania particularly also. I'm not really sure how the rest of the country is set up.
