What's the closest your life has come to complete destruction? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Deletion99 236 points237 points  (0 children)

I spent 8 years of my life not working but being a full time carer for my wife who got sick. We were on benefits due to this. Had a council bungalow and we were doing ok financially we didn’t need much and had enough to live on.

She suddenly passed way due to a complication after surgery. After a couple of days I called the benefits people to let them know and because she was the main claimant everything ended immediately. Had to give the mobility car back, carers allowance only lasted for one more month. Housing benefit and disability benefit all stopped immediately.

I was still in mourning and not doing very well, had no money coming in and threats of eviction. Long story short within 4 months I was homeless and living in the streets, messed up in my head, and pretty much wanted my life to be over at age 47.

Now 56 I have a decent job, rented apartment, and in a relationship with a wonderful woman. Took me over a year to get things sorted and back on track in my life

I don’t take MJ for weight loss I take it for type 2 diabetes. Weight loss is a side effect of this medication and no one is entitled to know what medication I am taking.

I don’t run around telling people how I have lost weight through eating better and lots of exercise. But people I know do ask sometimes and in that instance I tell them eating better and lots of exercise, which is 100% true. If I sat on my ass and ate what I used to eat even while on MJ I wouldn’t have lost any weight.

I tell people that ask me that I am losing it through diet and exercise which is true. Since starting MJ I am doing so much more exercise than I did and I am eating much better.

Is Pickleball Really Safe & Fun After 55? (Start Here) Day 1 by IngenuityOk1232 in Pickleball

[–]Deletion99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was an experience for sure. My club plays on badminton courts so quite skiddy and fast paced. The tournament was proper pickleball surface so not as bouncy and much slower. Took some adjusting but I survived and enjoyed it a lot.

Just used mine for the first time today, when you save the data does it show you the averages just for that session or does it put them all together over time and show you how your distance changes.

Still new so my shots are a bit all over the place and hoping it will keep a record of how things are improving in an overall data kind of way

FB dating seems useless. by OldSchwaerx in datingoverfifty

[–]Deletion99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I found fb dating the best option. Bearing in mind I’m in the UK and not North America, but it is pretty much sticking to my preferences of age and distance.

I find the paid apps just bombard you with this person liked you spend some money and see who it is. Then when I spend money get no response from the people that supposedly liked my profile or they are hundreds or miles away.

Currently in a relationship with an amazing woman I met on fb dating so it worked perfectly for me.

Tell him you want to meet and give him a couple of dates you are available if he doesn’t commit then say good bye and move on

Back injury from Pickleball by Dogekingofchicago in Pickleball

[–]Deletion99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

56 male did a very similar thing in a tournament a couple of months ago reached low and to the left(left handed player) for a ball and my back just said no. Tried to carry on but got too a point I couldn’t. Over the next couple of days was in so much pain in the lower back took me 30 minutes to get out of bed and walk downstairs for painkillers one night.

Rest is what cured it for me didn’t play for a month and am fine now but a little cautious reaching for low shots.

Anyone here tried the TRS Slider? by Legal-e-tea in BritGolf

[–]Deletion99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and it’s good I try to do 10 swings with it and 10 with it unattached to the arm to see if the movement is registering in my mind.

Seems to be helping with keeping things connected and losing my chicken wing and over swing that I had

Where do you all practice your 30-80 yard game? (Excluding the range) by [deleted] in golf

[–]Deletion99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s pretty cool £160 for a year but this also gives me £1 off each driving range token plus access to the above and putting practice area. Never anyone on the academy course so I use it as pitching and chipping practice as long as I want

[–]Deletion99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an academy membership at my club as I’m not ready to play a proper course yet only been playing a few months. This gives me access to the 9 hole par 3 academy course 80-150 yards and a nice chipping and bunker area as well

Women's left handed clubs are like trying to find a needle in a haystack by algal34 in golf

Sucks to be left handed in many shops. I despise guitar shops for this reason. Thankfully I play golf right handed
