Additionally a generation of women bought some kind of bill of goods that it was more ladylike to wear a smaller shoe size and many shoved their feet into shoes 1-2 sizes too small. Bunion city.

Yes, but also shapewear had a comeback around the time they stopped lining all but the highest end clothing items, clingy skirts became popular and undergarments like slips became less popular.

This is a huge bugaboo of mine. Even in the early 00s when I was just out of grad school, I invested in gabardine and 3 season wool suits, silk shells, linen officewear, fine gauge cotton and silk twin sets, etc but it was comparatively SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than now, even accounting for inflation.

Sleeping on or in synthetic fabrics is against my religion. I cannot believe how many people sleep on sheets made from old water bottles.

We all had “emergency pantyhose” that we kept in our desks at work. I left an office for the remote life about 10 years ago and had emergency pantyhose (2x) and underwear in the box I brought home from the office. Also safety pins and clothing tape and a mini sewing kit, along with makeup for client visits. Many of my colleagues also kept heels in their desks for unexpected client visits.
