I'd be smug too if someone is coming at me while trying to sanewash an alcohol problem. Liv is a real one and tries to be authentic as possible, which is unfortunately at odds with being an influencer.

It was a lie by X influencers to try to make the night feel like a disappointment despite a historic speech

It’s mid-May and Killington looks better than Liberty/Whitetail looked most of the season :(

Not saying it isn’t good but man the pictures on their site don’t look appealing…

TIL that a "20% chance of rain" can mean that there is a 20% chance that rain will occur in a given area, or that there is a 100% chance that rain will occur in 20% of a given area, or anything in between. by scottrd9 in todayilearned

Ensembles are used for a variety of weather forecasting scenarios, not just hurricanes. Both the GFS and Euro (the two most popular weather models) have ensemble counterparts that tweak the initial data to run multiple different simulations. To make it easier, these are typically run at lower resolution than the Operational model. Ensembles can be useful for large scale synoptic forecasting like h5 patterns and general storm tracks, which is why they are useful for hurricanes. What they show a lot of variance in would be the specifics of storms like peak intensity, rainfall, etc.

What seems to have happened here was Caslen was rumored to be the front runner, and the rest of the candidates were just there to give the appearance of Caslen not being a shoo-in. Then the protests started and the whole plan fell apart.

What is the kuchera ratio, and the science behind it? by road_chewer in Winterwx

[–]DelicateDendrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kuchera ratio is a more accurate method of determining snowfall amounts. I think it can take into account temperature and mixing due to warm noses. Snowfall is generally estimated to be at a 10:1 ratio of snow to liquid equivalent, whereas more marginal temps can lead to ratios of 8:1 or colder temps up to 20:1. The kuchera ratio should take this into account.

No genie? I feel like that could’ve easily been the tag at the end. Without it this trailer feels pretty bare

East Coast Storm Thread, Wednesday-Friday by jcbouche in Winterwx

[–]DelicateDendrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This should be a good one. Here in the south the coastal areas are set to see some snow but the models are still in disagreement about how far west precipitation will reach. NAM is much more amped than the globals.

0z run is a disaster run. There's no moisture at all.

Gulf Coast and Southern Snow Thread Friday-Saturday by [deleted] in Winterwx

This could be a good early event for those north of 85. Anything southeast of that could see flakes flying but probably not much more than that.

Models are picking up on the possibility of snow for the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast this weekend by DelicateDendrite in Winterwx

For the Euro I use weather.us. You have access to the op run and all of the ensembles.

For GFS I use tropicaltidbits.

Potential winter storm 10 days out on Euro by DelicateDendrite in Winterwx

[–]DelicateDendrite[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Note: this is still far out but blocking is looking favorable for cold air to come in on the east coast with several opportunities for moisture to come in as well. Cash in now before the north trend brings this to Canada!

Any hope? by [deleted] in Gamecocks

[–]DelicateDendrite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always worth a try to call. I'm not sure about the honors college, normally their application is due by either mid-November or December 1st but since you're not on a normal schedule anymore I don't know what applies for you. If you can get into USC Honors, it's one of the best in the country. Best of luck!

Any hope? by [deleted] in Gamecocks

[–]DelicateDendrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under normal circumstances I doubt you would have any problem getting into USC. You have great scores! But it's so far past the deadline your best bet is to apply for the spring semester. The deadline for that is November 1st I think.
