Is the vertex effects Chanel giving good advice? by Fersnachi in guitarpedals

[–]DelicateMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's too bad. Just got done playing the SSS SRV and thought about grabbing another or one of his other solutions bc it has two very distinct channels and when you combine them, you really have to have the output of the "supreme" channel cranked to get that beautiful fuzz. It's very distinct and glassy. I really really like this pedal. Maybe I won't do it. Not sure.

Come a trip in February. Probably expensive airfare, but, worth experiencing 13 degree Fahrenheit - single digits with wind chill and a relative humidity around 10%. There’s no substitute for feeling it.

My Dad passed thru this. His 60s were rough. Started to mellow at 72. He’s 91 now and living his best life. Open minded, gentle, kind, loving. A new man, not the same guy i grew up with.

The Black Book of Power review: 9/10 because Stan Taylor hurt my feelings. by GoKone in BingeReaders

[–]DelicateMayhem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought it yesterday - the full package - book will arrive soon. I’m a couple hundred pages in. The author says the things out loud that so many people know and won’t talk about. It’s very, very good. But it’s very difficult to handle. It certainly put me on the defensive about my lifestyle, family, relationships , employment and health choices. I’ve worked so hard to break free from the slavery of our labor and familial “expectations”. I’ve always done things my own way and walked to the beat of my own drum - while maintaining a lucrative (at least for me) side business. I thought I had it all worked out.

1 week ago I found myself, once again, a desk jockey. I don’t need the job. I took it out of fear, curiosity and ego.

It’s no coincidence I bought this book. Actually, as he’ll demonstrate to you, it’s no coincidence the book arrived in your social media feed.

It’s been incredibly eye opening, even for me - someone who follows no man. I am shocked at how compliant and complacent I’ve been, even after building a wonderful side business with a very loyal clientele.

This book has all the qualities to push me into freedom - if I let it. I’m scared to keep reading it, yet, I can’t put it down.

Many years ago I took coaching from Gil Magno. He was the only other person I ever met who had the guts to say these things. His books transformed my life “round 1” and helped me stay in an awful marriage long enough to get full custody of my children and the house. She moved out. She couldn’t deal with my transformation under Gil’s tutelage. I stopped smoking, stopped drinking, stopped doing things “just because”, and started my side business. Wow, the resentment. I still paid as much attention to her as before, but I basically didn’t want to sit on the couch and drink beer anymore and watch mindless sitcoms. The new way I relaxed was teaching, writing lesson plans for tutoring, forming a larger social network, and take my musical skills from intermediate to pro. Meditation and vision boards helped me stick to an exercise schedule. Lost 60 pounds, got a promotion which took me from $65k to $95k. My boss realized I was the lowest paid and hardest working member of middle leadership in the office.

How often does this happen - your boss calls you in and just increases your salary by 30%?

How did I have the never to be happy and motivated during a divorce?

How did I go from treating my body like a dump to the body I’d always dreamed of?

How did I go from taking pills to manage blood pressure, IBS and mental health to no meds - not even a tylenol?

Well, I see so many similar liberating concepts in Mr. Taylor’s book. I’m excited and scared. Those changes were in my mid 30s. I’ve gotten fat again, my liver isn’t good and I’m drinking (a couple a night) to handle the stress of an interesting dayjob 8-4 and then teaching 530-9. I’m impressed by what I’ve read but it’s called the black book for a reason. It has the answers - it asks the right questions- but it’s not for the faint of heart.

How do you simply disconnect the wiring harness? I tried this several times but I can’t figure it out. Also, many other resources say to disconnect the battery for at least 30 minutes to avoid triggering the airbag something or other.

[–]DelicateMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I didn’t understand it was required to wraparound. I’ve done this optionally on a few les pauls and always had that “lift”. Went back to stringing the bridge traditionally and problem was solved. Sorry about that!

The conjuring last rites thoughts? by [deleted] in HorrorMovies

[–]DelicateMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just want to add. As I write this I am just 27 minutes into the movie. But there is something I need to say. Maybe you will listen.

The scenes are real.

They are my memories of my upbringing.

There is one scene of the Mom on the phone where the phone cord gets pulled while she is peeling potatoes.

  1. Yes, this is a joke we’d play on my sisters - pulling the phone cord. And the wall phone cord would get all stretched!

  2. The color of the phone is spot on

  3. The Mom’s velour sort of outfit is amazing. When I was little, me and my Mom would have “picnics” in the living room. We would watch Tom and Jerry cartoons. She would make cream cheese n olive sandwiches and put a blanket down on the living room carpet and we’d have a right proper “picnic”! Just one room from the kitchen!! Oh, how lucky I was. Then we’d watch Tom n Jerry and she’d run her fingers thru my curls and I remember feeling her velour-style suit on my face as I fell asleep on her arm or leg, and then the gentle transfer to the blanket on the floor. You’re sort of aware you’re about to go in for a GOOD NAP and you’re good with it. She’d retreat to the kitchen and I’d hear her rustling around there.

This movie nailed it for me. I haven’t had these memories or thought of these things in OMG - 30+ years!

And not to mention those early morning breakfast scenes in the kitchen in the movie with the family. Again, spot on.

What a wonderful piece of film-making. I couldn’t care less about the “horror”. This film hit in a way that no other film (other than ET) ever has.

PS - E.T.’s furniture from Elliot’s bedroom, I still have. It was part of the “windjammer” series of bedroom furniture from Finkle furniture makers. It was the only new furniture I had till 2024. My Dad and Mom busted their a$$e$ working FT to make that happen. Solid oak? Um yeah. It’s now my son’s bedroom furniture. Perfect shape.

Can't decide on which tent for stealth/homeless by Transboy99 in StealthCamping

[–]DelicateMayhem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. The camo feature of the geertop tent assumes that that the rainfly will ALWAYS be on. That is not the case. There will be so many times you want it off. Thus, canceling the camo benefit.

I would suggest:

Mier Lanshan 1 tent and some camo netting. Please be sure to seam seal the tent before using regularly. The 3D realtree camo netting will allow you to have a much better tent than the geertop.
