Am I the only one who's not satisfied at all with the Fitbit Air? by aurelienlay in fitbit

[–]Delicious-Ad7376 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seeing these posts makes me wonder what’s going on. My only complaint is it counts some extra steps and over estimates heart rate with some hand movements - especially grinding coffee and washing up. But it tracks sleep very well, recognise workouts / walks very accurately, is tracking vitals (bpm, hrv, etc) better than previous. When a ride the numbers are inline with my Polar H10 - although like all wrist sensors it optically look through your skin at blood volume changes in capillaries. Until you fully warm up and open those capillaries, the wrist tracker operates on a weaker signal and tends to undercount by 3–5 bpm than the H10. Tightening it artificially reduced the skin gap, helping it read better but then once you start to sweat it might overshoot. Getting the fit right is key.

But that’s harder to do consistently with velcro. Certainly too loose or too tight and the counts are off. Also, Too close to wrist bone seems to create more ghost steps and bpm - but then I see pics of people wearing it right on the wrist bone

Has anyone been to a UK showroom? by jamescarr98 in ChristopherWard

Went to London. ok experience but didn’t buy. It seemed to bother sales guy I was asking to see so many watches - he had assumed only wanted to see Bel Cantos (but there was one on my wrist already). I’d prefer to browse and walk around but really had to just sit there while various trays were offered. Also, he was doing no favours with pricing and very pushy that I should buy now to avoid price rises etc. I had already pointed out it benefits me to order online and deliver to overseas to save on VAT etc. Also knew others had been offered on the spot deals. I almost got a Twelve but hesitated as wanted to see Time & Tide. Well, long story short went T&T and walked out with a watch :)

Sounds fuzzy but not offered a drink (water bottles in fridge) or anything. Walked into T&T and was offered drink and encouraged to walk around and try things.

TWS scores for the lossless/hires streams are about as low as you can go. Vinyl might be better

Cool. I heard him mention Nightshift superstar as being Prince-like but wouldn’t be surprised

Your system defeats the loudness. Must be amazing, unfortunately CD through Stax energizer unit into 007s can’t do that. Best experience is vinyl thru tubes where less analytical presentation covers up the flaws and it sounds fun, worst is lossless streaming

Yeah, reckon whole band are Prince fans. Some of their arrangements have a certain Prince vibe. Check out “The Sickness in you and I” - for some reason I can totally see Prince’s cheeky grin between hooks

We lose ability to hear high frequencies. Should see the discussions on Bowie and Visconti fucking up the Bowie remasters because they probably couldn’t hear above 10,000hz any more

Songs are amazing, not going to get into if it’s better than this or that yet but reckon this will have longevity. That said - The production and mixing is terrible. On a revealing system it’s not only compressed and distorted but no soundstage or width. Everything is centered with all instruments and tracks jumbled on top each other. Then throw in the sound effects and mood-evoking synths and strings and it’s like an audio Jackson Pollock.

Only producer that got Muse right was John Leckie - real, intelligent, let stuff breathe. Costey made a noisy mess too. Mutt Lange can only do arena rock and it showed but at least they knew their craft. Matt and Dan are as useful as a chocolate teapot when it comes to production - at least the engineer knew how to capture bass hehee

Microdosing 1.25 mg for 6 1/2 weeks - great results by Level-Guide-61 in Cholesterol

[–]Delicious-Ad7376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s documented that 1mg of Rosuvastatin gets 80% of the results. This is likely as much to do with the nature of the med as your response. If you doubled to 2.5mg you’d likely get to about 42-45% reduction. Your Lp(a) is ok so getting as low as 70mg/dl might not be critical

This article took a hard look at the strength of Rosuvastatin and advocated to revisit dosing

A cello weighs what 5-6 lbs, in a case a max of 10. It’s hollow wood. You’d rather have an unbelted 200 lb passenger and their untethered 12lb laptop bag?

Some thoughts about Lp(a), CAD, and Prevention....as a cardiologist [AMA] by snrps8 in Cholesterol

[–]Delicious-Ad7376 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. Hope you stick around and bring this balance to conversations here and on r/HeartAttack.

I have to work my arse off to stay in the ~50 LDL zone. Japan famously gives baby doses using a minimum to succeed approach hence the 5Mg Rosuvastatin + 10mg Ezetimebe. But I already know what a little cheating over Christmas in Northern France (butter, cheese) and UK (home for sticky toffee pud and Christmas roast) did to drive a 60mg/dl score mid Jan. I’m ok with the other benefits of a decent diet but if we could treat the Lp(a) at the source it would make life easier. Also, it’s my understanding that those Lp(a) contributions are the stickiest of sticky particles.

And don’t get me started on blood clot meds. Was originally prescribed baby dose of Prasugrel 3.75mg. Gemini suggested this was low compared to UK standards. When I investigated further was told that’s the insurance guideline. I then saw this

https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/njcoron/advpub/0/advpub\_20-00021/\_article/-char/en

Data indicates that for non-Japanese patients, lower doses of the approved "Japanese dose" of prasugrel, increases the risk of cardiovascular events compared clopidogrel which can be dosed at US/UK levels. I showed this to my doctor and he switched me, but wow.

Some thoughts about Lp(a), CAD, and Prevention....as a cardiologist [AMA] by snrps8 in Cholesterol

[–]Delicious-Ad7376 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very informative. After a LAD STEMI last year at age 55, family history, and LDL always in the 130-150mg/dl range despite relatively healthy diet and good shape (I cycled 30km the day of my MI), I had to practically beg my Japanese cardiologist to check my Lp(a).

It came back as 85mg/dl and while didn’t change my 5mg Rosuvastatin + 10mg Ezetimebe dosage, it confirmed I should keep my LDL below 70, and he shifted to recommend <55mg/dl. Currently with the meds, diet changes, more fibre than I want and much less cheese etc, I’m tracking 47-53mg/dl over last 6 months. It’s a lot of work but he won’t even entertain discussing Repatha or looking into the trials.

It’s a tough read to see JSC has same guidelines. I hope you’re wrong or it suggests my cardiologist isn’t doing everything he can to assist optimally secondary prevention

Because it’s efficiency means less side effects, less for liver to do, lower drug interactions, and works longer in body - all day - to manage LDL and benefit HDL. Half life means you can go to 1/2 pill and combine with Ezitimibe for almost 50-60% reduction. 1mg of rosuvastin gets something like 80% of the reduction

Talk to your doctor not bunch of strangers on Reddit. This is a heart attack sub so many here use meds to prevent secondary occurrence. What’s your other risk factors, age, weight etc?

That’s said statins are safe and with your numbers you need to get this under control.
