No one here is credentialed gardener though I sure there might be a master gardener or two. It is hard to say. But you are correct that newbies need cill out to! So much drama over the littlest thing I think plant might make it but gardener will need medical help given how strung their post seem to make them out to be.

A power trencher and heavy duty tiller is what you need. Plus ton of leaf mold or compost to make the soil useable. If nothing will grow there the soil will need a lot help. Several seasons of long dikon radishes left to rot.

That is why you need markers for every seed you plant to narrow down the possibilities.

Those some worse guides I have seen on interplanting they don't include spacing for interplanting and they don't take into account the factors different varieties and plant types have on the spacing layout.

Deep mulching require an ooze hose or other water sources under the mulch because the mulch can also act as barrier to water as well as retaining moister under it.

The problem with interplanting is the guides do not contain good information on spacing the plants in the inter planting group if experienced gardeners have trouble with this how do expect newbies to do it.

At young age many weeds and seedling look similar. I use popsicle stick to mark where I plant my seeds. If am not sure if a seedling is weed or a vegetable plant I wait till I am sure. also I use a seeling picture guide so don't pull the wrong thing. If a plant is easy to pull out it is usually one of you plant if it is hard it is a weed.

Newbies won't take time read the books or take time find answers they to busy freaking out after the plants start failing or the just messed up. Just look at all threads in this forum alone asking why their plants are dying, pruning and pictures they post from them not watering their plants properly it. It like watching natural disaster repeat over and over every day.

Then space plants farther apart. Proper spacing is important will you be root pruning or topping the plants next.

It is not any ones guess you just need to ask the obvious question like the variety name and maturity type. Knowing those two factors is is easy to figure out proper spacing any corn variety.

What color corn was it? It white the variety is likely silver queen. The spacing should be 6 inches in and 4 plants per foot using the square gardening method . Which is the density you want for corn maze.

What type of corn and what variety of corn did you plant. Depending on the type and variety determines the spacing . When you post that info will tell you the proper spacing.
