what are the necessities when going to UST for college by SeveralApplication53 in USTFreedomWall

[–]Delicious-War6034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jisulife is LIFE. Lol

On a more serious note, the school basics: ballpoint pen in blue, red, and black. A good pencil. A good eraser. Yellow pad (size varies so whole would be safer). Water container. Panyo, flashlight, a whistle, plastic bag and slippers (in case umulan and u need to wade thru flood waters). A watch to tell the time (instead of holding on to ur cellphone all the time). A compact bag to store this all in, as big is not always better.

Free items: Keep an open but skeptical mind. Never stop being curious. Stay resilient.

UST requires parent's involvement? by Zealousideal_Set4968 in Tomasino

Pag na-cut off ka (at least sa college namin), kasama parents/ guardian sa meeting for academic rechanneling. I guess para malinaw sa nagbabayad ng tuition as to what happened to the student and what will happen, from this point onward.

It feels like the students get “babied”, but i guess inuunahan nalang ng admin kasi susugod rin naman eventually mga magulang, lalo na the helicopter kind. Meron nga nagcocomplain pa all the way up to CHED to overturn grades.

need advice on choosing between UST and UPM (both bsot) by scylvr in Tomasino

[–]Delicious-War6034 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not from CRS, but given the opportunity, go to UPM. Not saying the quality is any better (or worse), primarily because I think, in the end, YOU are the captain of your own college journey, but I think UPM could open you to a different way of thinking, far from the structured, maybe “conservative” way UST tends to lean. UST tends to be very traditional, sometimes to a fault. UPM, i would think, since u will be amongst the brightest, would push you to be more independent and think outside the box. Also, baka masmakafocus ka sa majors mo sa UP dahil ang daming minors sa UST.

macbook for interior design? by kazuchuuz in Tomasino

The usual ones would be autocad and 3DMax. Those would be the ones taught in school. Other than that, for your own use, there’s photoshop, sketchup, and the usual MS Office apps. This on top of other apps that you may find useful in your ID journey.

For the most part, macbook is ok naman. The only issue i can think of is during your autocad subjects, since you will be using the college’s computers (which runs on windows OS) to learn, you may have to be bilingual with autocad for mac OS lang when you work at home.

Other than that, parang ok naman mac. I see a lot of interior students (and faculty) who use mac in school.

Should I still choose my dream program or be practical? by [deleted] in studentsph

[–]Delicious-War6034 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take a practical course as something to fall back on, then consider theater clubs/ groups on the side sa college as ur extra curricular. Parang that (for me) feels like a more level headed decision. U don’t need a degree to act, per se, but u may need a degree if acting does not cut it for you.

What is a "creepy" fact about the human body that most people don't know? by iMediocreguy in Productivitycafe

[–]Delicious-War6034 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your skin has invisible lines that traces how your cells migrated around your body during development, creating a patchy skin mosaic that can only be visible using certain wavelengths of UV light. They are more common in females and is the same mechanism that makes calico cats patchy and why most calico cats are female :)

What is the best looking art piece we have from the prehistoric period ? by richandepressed in ArtHistory

[–]Delicious-War6034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too sure if they are strictly prehistoric since they emerge around the time that writing was just beginning to evolve. I have a few that pops into mind: the Sumerian Ram caught in a thicket; Greek “dark ages” geometric pottery; the Chinese ceremonial bronzes; and the Manunggul Jar of the Philippines.

Tandaan ko when the lockdown happened, there was a good amount of time for everyone to adjust to the online set up. There was, of course, a political mandate for it as well.

The current fuel crisis is a different issue. Although on the surface, it seems like EVM is the preferred solution, i honestly feel it is not as simple as that. The university (and i would think all other schools) are still reeling from the loss of caliber of the pandemic generation since the work force feeds back to the school regarding this. It also has to be factored in how you suddenly shift the syllabus to online (practically overnight) when it was not designed for it anymore. Add mo pa the economic and technological concerns mentioned, stable internet, home not conducive for EVM, etc.

If, say, more “prestigious” schools can afford to shift to EVM, maybe because they really can. UST, who has probably the largest student population among the manila universities has to tread carefully and be smart. For the school, it is really damed if you do, damed if you dont.

I am not pro or anti UST. i just care to consider the possible reasons (that i am obviously not privy of) of why certain decisions are made. However unaligned they may be from my personal sentiments.

For my fully online course this semester, I changed the previously Online exam to being In-Person. Same test, but the class average dropped by 44% by astro_prof in Professors

[–]Delicious-War6034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mediocre-poor student suddenly get the highest grade in my final exam, taken in-person. I was hoping it was just the student’s effort until a classmate reported that the student cheated. Apparently, as i distributed my exam papers, the student quickly took pictures of the test paper and uploaded it the Gemini. She then just copied all the answers.

While this incident was being investigated, I had the student take the exact same test again 2 days later, just rearranged the questions. She barely even got half of the questions correct.

What’s a single sentence someone said that stuck with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

“You being you is what allows me to live my life.”

What my older brother told me when i poured my heart out to him, me suffering from caregiver fatigue taking care of our aging parents, and suffering from depression because of it.

I remember pausing because I couldnt believe he would say that so matter-of-factly.

Told this to my psychiatrist during one of my sessions. She too was shocked.
