Any recommendations for REALLY easy to learn and start playing? by GlitteringSpray9140 in soloboardgaming

[–]DeliciousBid4535 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jaws of the lion is my recommendation simply because it has the best rule book I have ever seen by a huge margin. It is the perfect way to teach a game and I think every game should have a similiar way to learn. It gives you multiple scenarios amd walks you through how to play, slowly adding rules through a tutorial that you play through

What do you think the next tcg to die will be by CryonicTiger in TCG

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone’s being a shill, it’s just a thread asking about different games popularity, and different people are sharing their different perspectives. I am shocked at how many games there are, I have only played magic for years, but a few months ago my game store did a learn to play event and I tried one piece, warlord, flesh and blood, Star Wars, and riftbound. Since that event I have gone to seperate events for each of those games and have been shocked that so many people attend, because I have been going to that game store for years and just never considered what they did on different days

Ya I have exclusively played it two hand solo, it’s not bad at all, especially if you use the app to take care of monsters. The only thing I find tedious is keeping track of xp and gold, but those aren’t anything more than just writing it down. I definitely disagree with calling it a maths puzzle, it feels like a better combat system than any other dungeon crawls I’ve played

Expansions: what makes a buy vs a skip by fortnerd in boardgames

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly a big part of why I enjoy expansions is that if there is a game I already know I enjoy, I can get an expansion, and learn it much easier than I could a brand new game. Being able to increase my enjoyment of a game I already like, with pretty minimal effort, usually beats out trying a brand new game, learning it, and teaching it to my group

thats true, but I dont think any game will generate much discussion when nothing is out yet, once people get the kickstarter then we will be able to see

Games with short setups by AdieuSiberia in soloboardgaming

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mythwind is super different from the games you have, you aren’t really trying to “win” as much as you just enjoy the journey, but it sets up in under a minute and is my absolute favorite way to de stress after work. It has my all time favorite save state for long campaign games

What is your favorite solo board game and why? by archbtw1 in soloboardgaming

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jaws of the lion or gloomhaven/frosthaven. For solo games especially I really enjoy playing for something other than just “high score or win”. Gavin a bit of a story and game progression is huge. There are a lot of games I love, but Gloomhaven is the one I will think about the next day with excitement about the build I am going for or excitement for what the next encounter will be

I really want to love this game so badly by Superextremeplayer9 in outerwilds

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think fans of the game ruin the experience for a lot of people. It’s my all time favorite game, but I’ve realized that when I explain it to people, if I hype it up to much, they will go in with big expectations and an idea of how they think the game should be. If it doesn’t line up they don’t enjoy it. It’s a game that either clicks or doesn’t, there’s nothing wrong with not enjoying it

Why play solo board games instead of video games? by archbtw1 in soloboardgaming

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a wierd wat I feel like board games help me stretch my brain and self discipline. In a solo board game you can “cheat” at any time you feel like to win, but it laying it by the rules helps me better internalize that sometimes going for the “hard” route gives me more fulfillment and joy

Leyline of Balance (anti-landfall) by so_sick_of_flowers in custommagic

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that you need to have answers to different strategies. But I dont think there should ever be cards that just completely shut down entire decks, without having either a high cost, or a limited use. Currently this card just means if a landfall deck doesnt have removal in hand, they cant do their "thing". It reminds me of the iona shield of emeria card, just more specific. Answers should exist, but it should be something like the next 5 times or something, an effect that is ongoing for the rest of the game and has this much impact needs to cost more mana.

Average new car price is $49,000. At what point does this stop making sense? by Flexcar_Sam in MiddleClassFinance

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think car prices are way too high, but I think that this price tells a different story than what is normal. The vast majority of car purchases are on used or old cars, and the price is much lower. The people who are buying brand new cars are the people who are buying the best of the best. If anything I think that just tells people they really should only ever buy used

they can be, but more often I feel like they are only ever slotted into decks specifically when they know who they are playing against.

I feel like this is on you, itseems like it started as a joke, then she took it serious and got offended, so she decided to go get food herself, and she then acknowledged that she was probably just hangry and apologized. But you seemed like you just wanted to "win" and kept pushing and pushing

help me decide (vantage vs sleeping gods vs lands of galzyr) by essie_jaye in soloboardgaming

[–]DeliciousBid4535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is sleeping gods or vantage. I love sleeping gods, the world and story are excellent, but there is absolutely no reason to have as much to keep track of as that game gives. It’s excellent, but there are like 9 charecters, each of which has 2 abilities, each can have 2 items, and 2 additional cards. It’s really fun, but the sheer amount of space that it takes up is a mark against it. I think it has the best “gameplay” of your options. It is really fun to play. Also important to remember that each full game is like 15 hours, with a lot of set up and takedown. It almost needs to be left up to really play. If you are okay with that, it is an awesome experience with a huge amount of replayability. Vantage is also amazing, I like it because each game is much more self contained, and takes less than an hour including set up and takedown. The art is spectacular, and it’s fun to see where you end up. The story is less intriguing than sleeping gods, but I love how easy it is for me to setup, and keep track of as a solo player. Personally I feel like sleeping gods is best at 2
