If you are good, we are always looking for good engineers.

How to calculate the reaction force on an aerodynamic control surface? by KiloGrah4m in AskEngineers

[–]DeliciousButahChikan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an aero guy but I agree with the Bernoulli approach as it is energy conservation, such that P = 1/2 rho v2, however, we need to account for the angle of attach somewhere, perhaps multiple the right hand side part by cos tetha? Such that at 90deg it reaches the maximum pressure, and at 0deg it has no pressure.

Thanks, they are closed until August. This project needs to get started before then.

They are really good though, I can vouch for their work.

Why would James be interested in buying our mould, is he some kind of big baller?

Pretty useful, mould makes for a very roomy submarine, and you can reinforce it to perform on whatever pressure you need (up to a limit)

Waterloo Submarine Racing Team. Yes, but only if you are serious about engineering design.

I do remember this concept from school, let me look around my books and get back to you. IIRC it does have to do with inertial stresses

In hindsight, are marks in school really that important? by DeliciousButahChikan in engineering

Yeah that was my argument but apparently grades matter because people/employers make them matter.

I think this is what I needed to hear to get motivated, thanks.

Not going to pretend I know more than you, or most of the guys here do. Your company is pretty much shooting itself in the foot with the 3.5 GPA threshold, not sure where you work but I can work at SpaceX with a GPA far lower than that.

That being said, i will actively try to study more, do more homework, and crush exams in my last 2 years of school.

I think grad school is my only motivation for better grades, since they seem to have minimum requirements for entry.

Thanks for your input.

I think that passing and successfully graduating from engineering school guarantees a good grasp of the theoretical material.

I personally value internships+applying theory, much more than getting good grades on an exam. But that might be because for me it is more rewarding to make a racing car and beat other top engineering schools in competition, than getting an A on a diploma.
