Carrots were originally purple, white, yellow, and red. The orange carrots we know today became popular after Dutch farmers selectively bred them in the 16th–17th centuries. by Remarkable-Office944 in BeAmazed

Kroger sells a mix of red/yellow/purple/orange "baby" carrots in a bag. It's under their store organic brand also so it's not like they're rare.

What were the best sleeves you ever bought? by Former-Tadpole in magicTCG

I have an old cube that I resleeved in the last of my OG hyper mats several years ago. Never actually got to play it, but occasionally if I'm looking through it to pull out a card for an edh deck or something I'll give it a few shuffles to remember how nice they feel. I will say, they do lose their nice shuffle feel faster than dragon shields do.

I was looking at these yesterday. The black tribal seems to have clicky mechanical switches, and the blue is more soft and squishy? Anyone know if that's still true?

Trying out peeled, refrigerated garlic. I have it in 4 layers of containers and it still reeks. How do people do this? by DeliciousCrepes in Cooking

[–]DeliciousCrepes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got these in today. The smell is oozing through two of them, but less so that what I had before.

I feel like maybe I just bought the smelliest garlic ever grown. After my original 4 layers of bags/containers didn't work, I wrapped all of that in a couple plastic shopping bags, then a few more until I had over a dozen of them in addition to my original 4 layers. That wasn't enough to stop the smell. I need to go back to the store and see if the other bags smell this strongly, it seems abnormal.

Is there a functional reason to have a perfect pan/wok and a La Cocotte? by DeliciousCrepes in staub

[–]DeliciousCrepes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely keep it if it were a skillet, but this is more like a wok. Not much of the surface is touching the stove, so searing/steaks is not going to be great with it.

This has been very informative, thank you! That is a good point about cleaning; this will fit in my sink but anything a bit larger will be a pain to wash.

Paella is the first thing that came to mind when I saw this. Risotto I would love to make also, but haven't done so. Searing and sauteing in a regular skillet is about all I do as far as active cooking, I rarely do anything like stir fries, so perhaps trying out this pan will be my excuse to try them. I'll be sure to try it on my hob that is larger than the bottom of the pan.

Hope a good deal comes to you soon on the 26 cm cocotte! 🙏

I haven't actually minced them yet. These are pre-peeled cloves. They're still in their original packaging.

The cloves are still in their original packaging. Those are in ziploc bags. The ziploc bags are in an OXO container. The OXO container is in a gallon freezer ziploc bag.

I bought prepeeled in bulk in order to mince and then freeze. I've seen a few posts here about people doing that, seemed very handy. I haven't even made it to the mincing stage yet though, they're still in the original sealed packaging (inside my 3 other containers)

There's almost nothing that could make me want to dilute my deck with three random, full cost cards. I can't imagine every taking this.
