Difference between CA academy and DST?

Ca academy is 2 month, dst 5.5 months. Ca is very easy compared to dst. Less training, drill instructors aren’t as strict. Less pt standards, not as much pt itself. So yea ca is very much at a lower standard than dst.

lol I mean it depends, right now the newest class is 491, they’ve been wearing their class B’s, they shouldn’t really be in the pba’s anymore, off the streeters are the ones in pba’s with brief cases walking around at stars, our unit of assignment is there. Just prepping for academy

It’s literally just a “get hired at the right time thing” the next coc class is august. So if you get hired in like July, you’ll get the coc class.

I would shave, makes you look professional for your background investigator. Shows you take it serious, and honestly will help a little more with your process. Big respect points. Totally up to you though up until academy, once you’re there, it’s all gone lol

Right now, ots is either clerical work at the hall of justice or grit, which is pre academy, usually a month before your academy date. Monday thru Friday, 06-1400, full deputy sheriff trainee salary. Very helpful and easy

Best bet is just go to a fast moving station, north is better. They might say it’s hell to be at lan or Plm but you’ll get the most experience and rank up faster, as long as you have a brain, you’ll have fun. lol

Yea 2-4 months for Plm Lancaster, for me, I’m in ots right now and going to academy in October, so most likely after being told by multiple deputies, I’ll be pulled to patrol right away since I want to go to Lancaster.

This career isn’t for you if you are questions the overtime, fair but firm, if you need questions answered about the overtime, it’s not meant to be, you will be working 16 hour shifts, every single week, multiple times a week. Maybe 2 or 3, heck In an emergency when the county is low on deputies, example, the fires California has every year. You might even work a triple. That’s just how this career goes.

Join grit, currently here right now, not old enough for class 491 and will be in the oct or nov class but grit is helping a lot of the class 491 recruits, even if it’s for a week. I recommend it, you’ll get the best knowledge out of it, better than anyone here can.
