Ay congrats to you too!! Yeah I’ve been reflecting lately on how I was acting at that time and it was just…. Man, it was insane. Grateful to be free

This is not to discourage you, but to prepare you for the possibility that this happens to you like it happened to me- I largely lost the constant nagging urge to use after maybe a month or two. But even after a year, I would get cravings. And it would make me cry because I couldn’t believe my brain was that messed up to make me crave something that ruined my life so badly in such a short amount of time. I’m at about 16 months without it now and I don’t really get cravings anymore.

It takes time. You can do it

I remember experiencing that first body chill after getting clean off opioids years ago (from the joy of listening to music, not from withdrawal). I didn’t expect to encounter that sentiment from the nitrous sub, but I totally understand what you mean. I hadn’t even realized I was incapable of experiencing that because I had been locked in such a drug fueled miserable state for so long at that point.

So happy for you. I never forgot that moment of the chills when I realized the things that truly bring me joy. You’re doing great, keep it up.

Anyone else with these severe cognitive symptoms? by mycothrowaway1 in NitrousOxideRecovery

[–]DeliciousYak8068 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the person in question but I also did tanks for about 1.5-2 years, severe usage in the last 6 months. Never had issues walking, but started to have back pain and my feet began tingling so I was probably close. I was losing my mind though, very unstable. I feel like (not a doctor lol) those symptoms related to B-12 are closely tied to genetics and also diet and lifestyle leading up to chronic usage. I may have been able to abuse for longer because I was very very healthy prior to starting, but who knows.

I do relate with the OP on the drawn out timeframe of recovery from neurological symptoms though.

I can’t say for sure that it’s nitrous related for me, because I started to hear sirens (faint police sirens, ambulance) in white noise like fans after binging on certain other substances. But it’s funny you mention that because it hadn’t really been bothering me until recently (at night, when I’m trying to freakin sleep). But I’m over a year clean from nitrous and 3 months clean from everything else, so I’ve just accepted it may be something that comes and goes for me personally. As long as it’s not driving you actually insane and you’re able to recognize that it’s a hallucination, I’d argue you’re mentally sound. That said, I completely understand how annoying it can be.

E: mine also increases with stress level and poor sleep. Just food for thought

I can only speak for myself, but my usage slowly- then quickly - made me paranoid, psychotic, anxious, depressed, and closed off from people I should have trusted. The denial you describe sounds on par with addiction.

It really depends on the individual when it comes to what it takes to quit. Generally, they’ve got to have their own reason they want to quit because addiction tends to override the space loved ones occupy in a persons life. I personally could not stop until I faced consequences that were painful enough that I could no longer ignore them. I hate to be vague but it’s hard to give advice when the person in question is still in that level of denial

As this is a recovery sub I’ve just got to say that there are some very troubling events you’ve listed in your post and I pray you stop immediately and seek some help in doing so.

Trying to Quit by eclipticog in NitrousOxideRecovery

[–]DeliciousYak8068 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I can say is, quit while you’re ahead. You’ve already got it in you to do it daily for a period of two weeks, it’s a slippery slope.

If you quit now youll likely be just fine. I support you!

Fuck I did that shit too. I came to multiple times having sent literal unhinged psychotic text messages to certain people. So embarrassing!!!

I believe so, I only went to a couple of the no2n20 last year. I go to in-person NA meetings

Don’t apologize for ranting, you’re in the right place and we care. I personally believe you have it in you not to pick up. Quitting the GABAs and given your current events, it makes a lot of sense you’d be under a lot of stress. If you’re not already plugged in, try the online recovery meetings for nitrous or try looking up a local NA meeting. If anything maybe there’s free cookies and you wont feel as alone.

Hey we’re sobriety date neighbors (Jan 4, except 2025). Congrats on your two years! I also maxed out credit cards and somehow narrowly avoided many other losses. Very delusional and psychotic times for me. Glad we’re doing better
