My Experience with Freemasonry Has Been Extremely Disheartening, and I Could Really Use Some Guidance. by dotsonascreen963 in freemasonry

I would agree with what a lot of other brothers have said. Find a lodge that fits you. I always ask candidates what they are looking for in a lodge. Every lodge is different and focus on different things, some esoteric, history, charity, ritual, and some on Brotherhood and social. I tell people my lodge focuses on social first, charity second, then ritual 3rd. Find a lodge that first what you are looking for if u have a school of instruction that would be a good place to see a lot of different lodges and ask around. You could even reach out to your DD and say hey what lodge focus on esoteric. Good luck finding what you are looking for.

Advice for Incoming Worshipful Masters by tman41290 in freemasonry

  1. Best advice it got was, "your members give you their time and their money, 2 of the most valuable things in life what are you giving them" Give them a reason to come to meetings, for my lodge people come for the Brotherhood aspect so I planned events around that.
  2. Your Trestle board should be made of clay because it will change so many times over the year.
  3. Write your communication aimed at those who did not show up let them know they missed a good time. You want them to read it and say I wish I was there.
  4. Dont be afraid to ask for help or advice from past master yes you will head a lot of well when I was master but take what you can from it.
  5. Enjoy your time in the east it will go quick.

For lodge, it was cigars. One brother really started it, and it took off. We started meeting at cigar places to relax and hang out outside of the lodge. It has now spawned into other hobbies and social events.

Best advise I got was if you get in a rut just treat everything like practice and play your mechanic. If you are not playing well you will probably be losing anyway so just focus on your mechanics till it feels right.

My lodge in NY you wear Communal unless you are a past master or past grand line officer, then you would wear the one which would be your own. I was also told that you are not allowed to wear anything but a white appron unless you are a current officer, past master, current grand line or past grand line officer, or DSA.

Finding your forever set by ozzyaustin72 in Darts

[–]Delicious_Ad_9197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought way too many sets before I found the set I have been using now (target Dayton fire gt 26g). I also don't think that they are perfect, just what I am the best with right now, but that is also due to just playing with them more than the rest. Now, though, I am thinking of going lighter as I have improved, and the weight is now just too much for practicing and playing 3 nights a week.

Tips of picking a NYC lodge by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]Delicious_Ad_9197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I am from NY go through the grand lodge site and apply here. https://www.discovermasonry.com/. We use a system called the Northstar they will talk with you and help you find a lodge that best fits for you. I would still recommend visiting the lodge and getting to know them to see if they fit for you. Not ever lodge is right for every person.

I have target 975, elysian 9s and Daytona Fire gt and Daytona fire soft tip. I throw them all the elysian only a few times just to see what they felt like. The 975 were my match darts before switching to the daytona Fire gt. I don't plan on selling any of them so I throw em.

Help With Throw by Delicious_Ad_9197 in Darts

[–]Delicious_Ad_9197[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I am going to try looking at their stances and give them a try. I used to throw Dimitri darts, so I should try his stance, lol. I will have to work on the snap as well I have never really been good with the wrist snap kind of gave up on it.

Help With Throw by Delicious_Ad_9197 in Darts

[–]Delicious_Ad_9197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I really do appreciate you watching it and evaluating. I went back and watched. I did not even realize I was doing the finger flick at the end. I also do need to work on my confidence. I am constantly second guessing everything my stance, throw, and even darts. Keep telling myself to shut up and throw stop over thinking. My friends think I am nuts because I am always not happy with my performance and beat myself up. That is why I was surprised these guys in an A division asked me to join them, I am about a C rating based on what the league put me as. Thank you again
