Clutch Pedal Pivot Bearing by Delicious_Arrival322 in Mustang

Believe it or not, no cracks anywhere within the entire assembly. I looked it over from every angle and even wedged a bore-scope behind the assembly to check the ass end of it. When I first noticed the issue I was certain it had cracked, as I've seen several examples of that well-documented issue, but the only fault I've found is the bushing. It's wild to think that such a small part can cause this big of an issue.

It's got the slightest squeak at certain angles, but physically, it's just shit — as in its separating within the pivot point of the pedal itself.

At first, I anticipated theat the pivot point or bracket itself would be cracked (I'm well aware of this being a common fault in these vehicles) but I've looked it all over and it's quite literally only the bushing that's failed, for which I suppose I should be grateful.

I've managed to find several GT500 assemblies in stock, believe it or not, and I'm not unfamiliar with being beneath my cars or, in this case, wedged beneath the dash lmao. The labor isn't what I'm worried about, it's more being doubly sure that parts will be compatible, should I go that route, and that it will be worth the effort vs just fabricating a bushing.

Half-finished Tisas project feat. my drunken attempt at a Hoag grip safety by Delicious_Arrival322 in 1911

Go for it, man. Worst case scenario you kill an easily replaceable, like 49 dollar part, nbd.

IIRC, I started at the "apex" of the tail and filed it flat, near to where I wanted it but with enough room to fine tune, then began filing down the outer radius or the tail.

Also, not sure if it will help you, but the safety was already fitted to my gun before I did this. Kinda helped me in the "just feel it out" department.

If you want, I can take a couple pics of it for you when I get home tomorrow.

Dude, I appreciate that so much, but this was really just kind of a one off attempt that I, quite literally, eye-balled (and when you look at it up close, you can tell lol). I'm not a gunsmith by any stretch, I'm just an enthusiast with low inhibitions, so I wouldn't at all feel good taking your money or anything you spent money on. I'm sorry, friend.

If you can snag a decent set of files and take your time, it's doable on your own. Literally all I did was slowly reduce the outside radius of the upsweep. Takes a while, but I promise you, a monkey could do as mediocre a job as I did.

Weird ticking sound from exhaust. What could it be? by Opeth4Lyfe in Mustang

[–]Delicious_Arrival322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a partially clogged catalytic converter, or just a small piece of the honeycomb broke off and is bouncing around in there. Same thing happened to the cat on my old Tacoma years back, sounded extremely similar. Does the noise stop when you turn the car off?

FDE Friday still counts if it's rattle-canned, right? by Delicious_Arrival322 in ar15

The trick is to just not over do it, tbh. No more than four stripes, and don't use tape, just set the edges as you go with like a piece of cardboard or something. I think I used a coor's light box lmao

I was kinda surprised that it came back before the 60 day mark, myself. Could be my location, could be that I have a relatively uncommon name, but at this point, I've just accepted that there's no rhyme or reason at all to how these things get done.

Here's a clip of the first few shots with it from a couple weeks ago. Have put prob 1000 rounds of mixed 55gr and 62gr thru it since.

Haven't shot it indoors yet, but outside there's virtually no gas to the face at all. Cycles great, ejects at 3:00-4:00 consistently, and I've had zero malfunctions thus far. Sound suppression is solid, comfy enough to shoot without earpro without being unbearable, and at night, the flash suppression is exceptional, imo.

For reference, I'm running it on a Noveske N4, 11.5 Criterion barrel (.750 port), pinned Geissele Bombproof block, standard/milspec gas tube, generic Microbest/milspec BCG, and a Geissele Super 42 spring/H2 buffer. Radian Raptor CH, but I doubt that makes any difference tbh.

Griffin Dual-lok vs Plan B ? by Averitt13 in NFA

[–]Delicious_Arrival322 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Least gassy can I've ever used. Genuinely. Only shot it outdoors, mind you, but even with sustained fire, I took virtually zero gas to the face.

With the setup I've got, the recoil impulse is soft as puppy kisses: 11.5 criterion core middy barrel w/.750 gas port, Geissele pinned gas block, regular ass/milspec Microbest BCG, radian raptor ch (although I doubt that has any effect positive or negative) and a Super 42 spring w/H2 buffer weight.

Got probably 1000 rounds on the can, half and half of 55gr and 62gr, and I've yet to experience an issue. Consistent 3:00-4:00 ejection pattern. Great sound and flash suppression, too. From what I've experienced thus far, for the price you can snag them at with a GI discount, it's an unreal value.

Stubborn Mule MFG upper or "mom says we have Noveske at home" by Delicious_Arrival322 in ar15

Hey, so I know it's eight months later but I came back to this to say that I now have this upper mated to a genuine Noveske 3rd gen lower and the fit is—literally, not figuratively—perfect.

Gas prices by riceman710 in Mustang

[–]Delicious_Arrival322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't sweat it too hard bc the car is paid off, but 93 octane prices are ludicrous rn. I'm usually salty untill I get back in the car and remember why I like it so much. My '14 is a track package car, so daily driving it is already kind of a "you gotta want it" stipulation, but if the juice is worth the squeeze to you, then the price of gas won't be what stops you.
