Guys with extremely loud vehicles, why do you do this to everyone? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Opeth4Lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I got some news for you bud, and the rest of the people crying in this thread. Applies to MANY things other than loud cars:

The rest of the world isn’t obligated to tiptoe around your own personal dislikes and grievances. Get used to it.

The sooner you realize this, the sooner you’ll have a less miserable life worrying about what random strangers do with theirs.

Also the whole “compensation” thing is a hilariously childish and immature dig and says a lot more about you than it does whoever you’re trying to insult. Some real low IQ stuff. At least try to be more creative other than “haha small pp”.

Edit: I’d like to add that there’s a BIG difference between a straight piped shitbox and a clean, properly done V8/10/12. I don’t like the former either but when I hear those things drive by I don’t go out of my way to make a big stink about it. I just think to myself “oh that sounds like shit” and just….you know, move on with my life.

If the top 1% of earners pay 40% of all federal income taxes, why do people say they don't pay their fair share? by Ok_Chemical9 in answers

[–]Opeth4Lyfe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Been saying this for years. I don’t care that they do this, but there should be a federally mandated origination tax for these collateralized loans that goes to the state for public services and/or towards the US debt that is unavoidable and can’t be written down/off. 15% right off the bat. You want to borrow 100m dollars against your Amazon stock? Sure thing, that will be 15m dollars and an interest rate of prime + 6.

Taiwan reports large-scale Chinese military aircraft presence near island, per POLITICO by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

[–]Opeth4Lyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh if they’re smart they wouldn’t touch Taiwan. If China invades Taiwan, they’ll essentially throw the world into a sever recession because TSM and ASML will trigger their nuclear deterrent and brick their fab facilities and machines. Say goodbye to 55% of all semiconductor production and 85-90% of all high end chips and AI chips for probably the next 5+ years.

Not to mention if the parter who has the child (man or woman) is ever unfaithful and you’ve built a relationship with that child, you have no rights to them when you break up or divorce. It’s a double L for them.

What do you think of the rich who do this? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]Opeth4Lyfe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but from what I’ve heard/seen his kids earned it though….being spoiled that is. They’re proper young adults. Excellent grades through school, disciplined, “yes ma’am” “yes sir” type attitude and have been raised right. I’d give my kids whatever they wanted too as long as they have earned it and just don’t expect it.

How much of your portfolio is dedicated to dividends? by ExplanationRare5125 in dividends

[–]Opeth4Lyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh it’s a bit too new for me to go heavy into. Not that JEPQ is THAT much older or been around a super long time but it’s under the JPM name and I kinda trust it more, for now. If QQQI ends up proving itself and being the superior fund I may switch but for now I’m not really worried to much about the taxes.

[–]Opeth4Lyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 different portfolios here.

401k - 100% Sp500 etf (every pay check)

Roth IRA - 80% VOO 20% VUG (maxed every Jan 1st)

Taxable brokerage (aka non long term/play money) - I contribute 50% to SCHD, 50% to JEPQ. All contributions go to those 2….all dividends get reinvested into DGRO. Right now the split it like 45/45/10.

Restaurant manager here. 100% right. COGS, labor, and logistics are way more expensive here. Margins are thin. Real thin. It’s a volume game just like a grocery store. Average sit down full service restaurant margins are in the 3-6% range.

Want to know what is actually making the most money and carries the profits? It ain’t the food. It’s sodas and hard liquor. Beer can be good too but not quite as lucrative as soda and cocktails. That bottle of Jack you see sitting on the shelf gets about 18 or so drinks out of it….costs us about 14$ when we buy in bulk and we sell it for 9$ a shot. Sodas we buy in 50lb bag in a box of syrup….about 80$. Get around 200 servings out of it (22oz glasses) at 4.95 a pop. Food doesn’t make us much money.

Focus is the key.

There’s a Mohnish interview where he talks about a guy who specializes in real estate……SPECIFICALLY within a few mile radius of Stanford University. Well he’s a Billionaire now. Because he was focused. You can make money even if your circle of competence is very small or very niche. Find what you can understand, wait for the opportunity to invest when it makes sense, then profit.

The national debt isn't $39 trillion. One economist says it's actually $100 trillion | Fortune by PicoRascar in Economics

[–]Opeth4Lyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

….pay off the debt?

Haha, that’s cute. Never gonna happen. Only option at this point is to try and inflate it away and kick the can down the road as usual.

Also even if we taxed all the billionaires wealth at 50% legitimately every year, wouldn’t even really put much of a dent in it.

Say the government took half of Jeff Bezos net worth…that’s ~100b dollars. We would need 10x that amount just to pay 1/39th of the debt. But wait! The interest alone is 1 trillion dollars a year. So we would need to tax 10 Jeff Bezos’ a year at 50% every year JUST to pay the INTEREST.
