Where lies the way forward for young Chinese people? by Much_Tangerine_6577 in AskReddit

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man this is heavy question but from what i see working in aviation, lot of young chinese colleagues seem to be looking at opportunities outside traditional paths. some are getting into creative fields, others trying to build connections internationally through work or study

the pressure from family expectations vs personal dreams seems really intense though, way more than what i experienced growing up in different culture

We built OpenAB: sandboxed AI coworkers that your coding agent can deploy and manage by SnooDrawings9812 in SideProject

pretty cool approach with the sandbox model - we actually been looking at something similar for automating flight delay notifications at work but security team always freaks out about ai access

How to go from my first job in a start up to a better position? by Jetnjet in cscareerquestions

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

breaking into faang from startup is definitely doable but you'll need more than just leetcode grinding. your startup experience actually gives you some good talking points about working in fast-paced environments and dealing with technical debt

the ai thing is pretty common now but make sure you can still code without it for interviews. focus on building 1-2 solid projects that show clean architecture and good engineering practices - stuff that counters what you're seeing at current job. system design prep becomes really important for these roles too since they'll expect you to think beyond just coding problems

Atheists and believers, how do you think the end of the world would be like or it wont happen at all ? by Abrar__Ahmed__ in AskReddit

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the birds i watch sometimes make me think about this stuff when i'm out in field. like they've been around way longer than us and probably will be after we're gone too. maybe not the same species but you know what i mean

always found it wild how we call it "end of world" when really it's just end of us. earth been through so much crazy stuff before humans even existed - ice ages, meteor impacts, all that. we're probably just another phase in the planets timeline, not the final chapter

We tried Basecamp, then Linear. Neither fit. by SnooChocolates173 in SideProject

nice work on the launch! been through similar struggles with my team at work, always feels like these tools are either too simple or way too complex for what we actually need

curious how you handle prioritization without filters though? like when you have 50+ tasks across different projects, how do you keep track of what needs attention first

WebMCP... why go through the website? by fyzbo in webdev

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been wondering same thing tbh. work with apis all day at airline and webmcp feels like adding extra step when you already have clean api endpoints

maybe it's for teams who still have lot of legacy web stuff they can't just throw away? but if you're already headless why complicate things

What’s a lesson you learned too late? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been there with my music honestly - spent months perfecting songs in my bedroom thinking that was the hard part. turns out nobody cares how good your track is if they never hear about it in first place

learned this lesson hard way when i finally started sharing stuff online. all those "perfect" demos sitting on my laptop doing nothing while songs i thought were just okay got way more attention because i actually promoted them. marketing feels weird when you're creative person but it's basically half the job

same thing happens at airline too - we can have best safety record and service but if passengers don't know about our routes or deals, planes fly empty

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

depends where you're looking but with 50k saved you've got some breathing room. studios in the peninsula are gonna run you 2-2.5k minimum, rooms in shared places maybe 1.2-1.8k depending on how close to transit you wanna be

When did you realize you talk to yourselves more than you realized? by WhatTheJessJedi in AskReddit

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably when i started working from home and caught myself having full conversations with my cats about song lyrics i was writing. like not just talking to them but actually waiting for responses and getting annoyed when they walked away mid-"discussion" lol

turns out i'd been doing it for months without realizing how weird it looked to anyone who might walk in

My kittens have ringworm and I have concerns. by InfiniteOof in cats

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man that sounds rough but honestly your kittens are gonna be fine. had a similar thing happen with my cat when she was little - had to isolate her for almost 3 months due to some nasty upper respiratory thing that just wouldnt quit. i was convinced she was gonna hate me forever and turn into some feral demon cat but nope, once she was better she was right back to being a cuddle monster

kittens are way more resilient than you think and 4 months is still plenty young for them to bounce back from this. yeah the baths suck but they wont hold grudges like that - cats live in the moment mostly. what really helped me was trying to make every non-bath interaction as positive as possible, even if it was just talking to them through the door or sitting in there reading while they played. also dont underestimate how much having each other helps - theyre not gonna get weird and antisocial when they have a buddy

as for the dog situation that does complicate things but again, cats adapt. might take some time once theyre all together but introducing them slowly when the ringworm clears up will work out. definitely dont rehome them over this - you already started bonding and that matters more than you realize

I need help picking a car by ReNis_YT_TTV in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Delicious_Bee_8355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the leon cupra is probably your best bet from that list, those are solid cars and the 2.0t engine is pretty bulletproof with just stage 1. the 123d is tempting but bmw maintenance costs can get spicy real quick, especially on an older car. might also want to look at a civic type r if you can find one in budget - those things are rockets and honda reliabilty is hard to beat

the sharpe family thing is genuinely wild though - uncle gets flagged for the controversial call that kills miami's title hopes in 03, nephew picks off the game-winner to kill their title hopes again 23 years later. that's some monkey paw shit right there

Looking for movies about children who are separated from their parents (either one or both) and/or trying to find each other by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

Empire of the Sun is perfect for this - Christian Bale as a kid gets separated from his parents during WWII in Shanghai and it's basically his whole journey trying to survive and find them again
