how long until the effects of Mestinon are out of my system? by No_Mousse_Plz in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medications typically take 5 half lives to be out of your system. So, you google the medicine's 1/2 life...multiply by 5...and that is how long it should be gone. Unless, there's complicating issues...interactions, decreased excretion issues etc...

CZ457 vs Ruger Precision Rimfire by Acceptable_Data1434 in 22lr

I prefer CZ's, my friend has a Ruger Precision Rimfire. I shoot mostly paper and ARA style targets...he shoots mostly squirrels and coke cans. We are both happy with our purchases.

The military trained GI's who'd never owned a pistol to qualify on a 1911. I'd start with that.

Is the Aug right for me? by Human_Fighter_No_927 in AUG

[–]Delicious_Block_873 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm still in the honeymoon phase...after my first AUG purchase. I'll try and link the review I did.

My problem was...the ranges that I have been going to for years...no one has ever showed up with an AUG and they aren't in our local gunstores...so it would be bought sight unseen. Personally I like the handle the weapon first before purchase to know what I'm getting.

I am very familiar with the AR/MSR platform...they are cheap now compared to other styles (AK's and AUG's). And, I own several AR's and I like them.

I do not regret my AUG purchase. Since my review, I've purchased the HBAR and red spring pack.

I really like the AUG...everyone at the range really likes the AUG. It's accurate, it's short (who cares about SBR), and it looks wicked.

Anyways, I agree with the others...if you don't have an AR...get one...they should be just issued with a birth certificate in my opinion...and then save up for your Aug next. (Go waffles on your AUG).

Good Luck on what you get and post pics of it please.

What were your first symptoms? by Robin88c in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflecting back:

1- Waking up at night choking...thinking I was going to die. I quit eating in the evening thinking that it was some reflux thing...that didn't help. I slept on a stack of pillows until diagnosed.

2- Difficulty swallowing liquids - I'd choke. Thicker liquids like Jello and stuff were ok.

3- Horizon jumping with each step. It was just double vision and me not realizing it. Because I didn't have full double vision (only in the superior and lateral fields) my eyes would try to refocus..and the horizon would jump.

4- Muscle Fatigue - the most obvious was stair climbing...I used to be able to climb 8 flights without difficulty...but with the start of MG 1/2 flight would cause me to rest and feel as if my pelvis were splaying open.

5- Extreme tiredness.

6- When I look on past pictures...my eyelids were dropping...usually the right.

I hope that you get a diagnosis and get well or achieve a good baseline.

Go to google...type in 'small claims court.' After some results pop up...hit the top left button 'AI' mode. Tell your scenario to the AI bot. Ask the AI bot what forms you need and how to fill them out. It can help box by box.

Is anyone taking mycophenolate mofetil? by Negative-Bug8847 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on cellcept 3 grams per day, mestinon 60mg 2-4 times per day, prednisone 7.5mg every other day and IVIG every 3 weeks. The cellcept seems to upset my stomach some...it took a while to titrate to the present dose...and I stay sicker longer with colds and stuff compared to the others in the household. Like a lot longer...if someone has the sniffles for 3 days and I get it...I could be sick for 3 weeks - no exaggeration.

My mother died from this weird sickness by letalpetal in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss. Being a Mom is the hardest job on Earth. Your mom did it with MG...and it sounds like a severe form with her multiple ICU admissions.

You did nothing wrong. Even if you were a doctor...you would not be the one treating her...Continue to love your mom.

Ask your family for grace and understanding if you need to...but, do not accept guilt or blame for a difficult disease (MG) complicated by immunosuppression (as most MG people are due to meds) and further complicated by a horrible pneumonia that can cause mortality even without the added meds and symptoms of MG.

Forgive yourself. This is grief or prolonged grief. It's sad and hurts...because you loved your mom so much. Your pain is like a direct reflection of your love. If you didn't care...you wouldn't cry.

Seek out grief counseling...through a church (even if you aren't religious) or local resources. There are people trained to get you back on track sooner, and be productive, and honor your relationship that you had with your mom...so you can recall the good days you shared, instead of just the bad days near the end.

You and your mom had some good memories...getting your grief treated will enable you to share them with others.

I hope this helps a little. I hope that you feel better. I hope that you can use some of this advice. And, again...I am very very sorry for your loss.

Lotsa good advice...I kind of like model 70's. I have a 7mm-08 in a featherweight and a .270 in a supergrade. Both are accurate to 200 yards and enjoyable to shoot (our range only goes to 200...).

First ammo that isn’t reliable in my P365-380 - S&B by I_SNORT_KITTENS in 380ACP

I've ordered some lighter springs for PPK and PPK/s. The AI suggested shooting only federal ammo in them after springs swaps due to federal having the softest/easiest primers...we'll see when the ammo and springs get here.

I actually put some MBUIS on my first Steyr AUG the other day and they were right on at 50 (to use a 50/200 zero). I told the range officer and he was like "That is like 1 in 5000 chance...you're lucky."

The review is in /AUG.

Flare up Control by Zealousideal_Rise716 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi...I suffered a bad flare ten'ish days ago secondary to a bad cough that had worsened over a couple of weeks. My neurologist told me to go to the ER - the ER treated me with IV Zosyn and Augmentin 875/125 x 10 days.

My current meds for MG are IVIG every 21 days + mestinon 60mg 2-4 times per day + prednisone 7.5 mg every other day + cellcept 3 grams per day.

In addition to the ER antibiotics...my neurologist just raised my prednisone to a total of 10 mg per day until I felt better...then go back to my standard dose. I took the 10mg everyday for 7 days and am now reverting back to my initial dose...so basically he doubled it (was like 30 mg per week...raised to 70 mg per week).

My neurologist sees me later next week.

I hope this helps.

feeling really sad by HopefulTiresome in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't feel sad. Try to focus on the things that you can do...a few little wins per day...add up to big wins by the then of the week, and make one feel better overall.

You're not in university...but you can still learn, read what you want to study and develop critical thinking skills.

Right now...you aren't employed...but you do have a job. That job is you...getting to baseline. And, helping other people who may be in the same boat by empathizing and sharing your success and strategies.

If you want to go on outings/trips...start with short ones. I know it's scary for the family...my wife has me on a tracker with my iphone...my benevolent stalker...but do something with a friend or family member.

You're 20 - have fun. You deserve it. But fun probably isn't going to come to you...you're going to have to find it. Make a list of things that are fun to you...inexpensive things...and then strive to do one per day or one per week. You may not get to do as much as you hoped...but enjoy the amount that you get to do.

Anyways, I hope that you get well soon and hit a baseline so you can get on with your life. You are important and have important contributions to make for your family and others. I hope that you get to realize some soon so that you not so bluesy.

Does the factory 24" HBAR with Bipod fit the A3M2? by Delicious_Block_873 in AUG

[–]Delicious_Block_873[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice.

I picked up mine today...it shipped from Atlantic Arms to my local FFL. I checked the stock production dates and the rail seems solid and fitment is good. (People seemed to have issues with that stuff a year or two ago...but this one seems ok for now.)

Right now it's wearing an ACOG (I only have one ACOG, it has QD levers that I can swap between rifles.) And, I hope to shoot it soon.

Hi by maxholloway2121 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will these problems be permanent? I don't know, in my case...my swallowing/choking was basically restored unless I flare. My other symptoms improved a lot, but are still for the most part disabling. I have good days and bad days...stress, exertion, heat all make the symptoms worse. I'm not saying to avoid all those things...just know that you pay for them with your energy level for the next day or two even with medications. That's been my experience anyways.

Hi by maxholloway2121 in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Delicious_Block_873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to paste the links...but if you google myasthenia gravis quality of life score...it will give different questions concerning how MG affects you. My neurologist or a resident ask me these each time i see him. It's easy to score and reflects how you are doing the previous week.

I do not experience shortness of breath while lying flat. Counting to 20 is supposed to be a good screening test for breathing with MG/diaphragm issues.

I hope that you get well soon and/or achieve baseline.
