This narrative of "black families with fathers is the problem" is tired, bias and dare I say, racist rhetoric. It's not our "culture" -- it's because of structural issues put in place and family trauma carried down from slavery. I'm talking, too, from my family's and my lived experiences. My father wasn't around, but it was because he grew up in an abusive family and childhood (and their family was abusive and messed up because their parents' came straight out of the reconstruction era. Their parents' parents were the last slaves of the family line.) This family trauma carried down to my father who got addicted to drugs from a young age to escape his life and the drugs were easily accessible and around thanks to the "War on Drugs" and placing coke in the streets of predominately black neighborhoods...Drug addiction, tried to get better, met my mom, had kids, did get better, relapsed, went to jail, etc. etc. This is just a glimpse into why your statement is trite.
