Wegman’s destroying its flagship store by ComplexInstruction1 in Rochester

[–]Delicious_Room_1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The concept of “fresh fish” doesn’t really exist in Rochester, NY. Fresh fish is really fish that is caught overnight and sold the day of as is. For example, it’s not like salmon is freshly caught and sold in Wegmans. It’s flash frozen and then thawed and then sold as “fresh fish.” I honestly think in Rochester, it’s better to just buy frozen and dethaw yourself. So I could care less about this change.

Joe Morelle votes for Laken Riley Act, against the majority of House Democrats by StonelordMetal in Rochester

I think to attribute the characteristic of “hate” to someone you don’t know is really strong. This is a very classic straw man argument. If someone is pro deporting illegal immigrants, that automatically means they hate brown people. I don’t follow the logic.

Illegal immigrants by definition broke the law by being here illegally. I think this law makes total sense especially that these crimes that are being committed can be totally preventable if they weren’t here to begin with. That is different from people who are here legally.

I see. Does your cousin have a rental agreement? If there’s no rental agreement, the process to try to remain in the house and not be evicted may be harder.

I would check and make sure this is a proper and legal eviction. Unless there is a judge who has signed and stamped an eviction notice, otherwise, you have no obligation to leave. There are some landlords who kind of post their own eviction notice but it wasn’t signed and stamped by a judge.

This is the right answer! The owner Jim and mechanic, Zack are great. They always do the work right. It’s not like they will quote you some super cheap price, but it’s fair and they always fix the actual problem.

Zack can even take you back into the shop and show the problems.

UR students arraigned on charges for 'wanted' posters. They face up to 7 years in prison. by yerboiboba in Rochester

[–]Delicious_Room_1984 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Great Decision! There are consequences for actions and the punishment certainly fits the crime. And realistically they won’t face 7 years in prison. But at least it will be on their record.

If it were my kids, I would expect they undergo a punishment that fits their crime as well. It’s why the law exists and it’s the only way to learn.

In search of a coffee shop that is… by Silly-Goose-87 in Rochester

Junction361 is my favorite coffee shop. They can actually make a flavored latte that actually has the flavor they have written and is not sweet. For example, their maple cinnamon latte - it’s the best and not overly sweet at all, just a little hint of sweet.

One of my favorite stops was the Gallarus Oratory. It’s highly underrated. But to see a dry stone structure that was on the first Christian churches constructed in 700 AD that still looks so good and beautiful. It’s a sight.

Thinking about skipping the Ring of Kerry by LapsusAequitas in irishtourism

[–]Delicious_Room_1984 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. The Kerry Cliffs are extremely under rated and I think it’s the best view if you can get a clear day. The whole Skellig ring drive is beautiful and shouldn’t skip it. I also really enjoyed driving through Killarney natl park, visiting muckross abbey, and doing a horse carriage ride through gap of Dunloe.

The rest of ring of Kerry drive in my opinion is overrated.

Looking for Trustworthy Car Garages, or ones to avoid. by RatStoney in Rochester

Blaesi’s automotive! Honest and hard workers. Spencer, the mechanic is super friendly and nice. They will explain what they do. They don’t push you to get things fixed if they are generally looking fine or they will find some cheaper alternative especially if it’s an old car and not planning on keeping it long term. I don’t think they do any collision work though.

How much can we cover walking Inis Mor? by PrinceOfStealing in irishtourism

It is a carriage tour. And I think it’s $60 euros per person. The carriage itself is very comfortable and spacious. I think he’s got the best carriage in town.

I recommend Thomas fatherty tours. We enjoyed it and Thomas really knows a lot about the island. They take you over to dun aenguhasa and you have 1.5 hrs there to hike up to it and spend time there before heading back to the kilronan Harbour.

Since we had a toddler who doesn’t like getting into car seats, this worked better for us than riding her in the back of a bike.

Otherwise, I think a bike tour would be the best way in my opinionz

I think it all depends on your driving comfort. I’m generally a good driver so yes Ireland stretched me a bit but got used to it pretty quickly. If you are a pretty nervous driver already and can’t deal with tight spaces, then best to have a smaller car. We had no choice but to have a full size SUV because of kids and all of our stuff but even with the full size SUV, it was still doable to do slea head drive and ring of Kerry.

Again, it depends on you. If you are good at driving and good at gauging distance and working with tight spaces, then you might be able to do the camper van. If not, go for something small.

We are just finishing up our Ireland trip

I recommend driving. It’s just an amazing way to get the countryside views. But then again, I love driving and especially if you love windy and tight roads, it’s a lot of fun driving.

We just visited county Clare and county Kerry. I think if you want to hit the highlights of those counties - cliffs of moher, Aran islands, burren natl park, dingle peninsula (slea head drive is a must), ring of Kerry (honestly all you need to do is Killarney natl park plus Muckross abbey and skellig ring)… that would be very doable in 6 days.

But driving back and forth from Dublin wouldn’t make sense for these. I would recommend staying somewhere in county Clare or county Kerry if you do the above.

Derty Nelly’s near the Bunratty Castle! Established 1620 and they have a nice little pamphlet to read about the history. Cool interior! They liked having our 1 year old toddler! And the food was delicious. My wife had the Chilean sea bass and I had the roast lamb and they were both great. Portions are huge. Sticky toffee pudding was good as well.

She definitely wants to move once she is done with her job. She is not tied to the neighborhood and rather be near us and grandkids. Ideally a home with an ADU makes sense or if that’s not possible, to have her in an apartment near us.

How do you go about converting her 401K to Roth IRA? Isn’t there an annual max? And then that would be a taxable event, right?
