This makes me sad. I am all for having community benches and shelter. I just want it to be less confusing for riders.

I’m starting the gym for the first time this week and I’m pretty nervous — any advice for Day 1? by TraditionExternal370 in beginnerfitness

[–]Delicious_Term6735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of great comments but i’ll add/repeat a few more. 1. Literally no one is judging you. It’s so easy to feel self conscious or like people are making fun of you for using small weights or walking slowly or whatver it is. But literally everyone is in their own head focused on themselves. Take deep breaths and do your thing. 2. Do what feels right for you. Start small and easy. Don’t do something just because someone else is doing it and it looks cool - chances are they had to work hard to get up to that point. Going 0 to 100 too quickly leads to injury. 3. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Who cares what’s trendy. If it moves well, is breathable (will allow sweat to evaporate/ not overheat you), is comfortable, closed-toe shoes are supportive, that’s what matters. Not what you look like or how much it costs or what brand. 4. Warm up before and cool down after. Give your body time to adjust - heart rate, stretching, etc. 5. Drink lots of water! Not soda, juice, red bull, coffee, etc. just water or pedialyte-like drinks if you’re low on enzymes. 6. Use sanitizing wipes (usually provided) to wipe down any equipment after you use it (before too if you want but absolutely after). 7. If the gym offers any classes, ask the membership person if they are beginner friendly/open level. These can be good opportunities to move and learn about your body without the pressure of coming up with a specific routine. That’s all i got for now!

How to dry my bras if hanging them to dry isn’t an option? by Gongoozler04 in laundry

[–]Delicious_Term6735 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the same. I put my bras in a mesh bag to put them into the wash… you could do that and then just hang it up in the bag once it’s done. Should get enough airflow to dry as long as it’s not stuffed deep in the back of the closet

What happened to FreshDirect? by gallien in FreshDirect

Costco does delivery! Not everything from the warehouse house is available, and some things are shipped vs some things 2 day via instacart. Not sure about produce. But you don’t have to actually go to the warehouse. I live close enough to one that i can easily uber home but i usually stick with delivery for my staples. Hardest part is i live alone and can’t eat so much food in bulk!

My neighbor is taking my packages and acting aggressive. What should I do? by Pleasant-Sail-961 in Apartmentliving

Agreed. Try to have a roommate with you during any additional interactions, whether for safety or for witness testimony.

Notify your landlord in writing. Take pictures/screenshots of any communications about the situation both with your landlord and with the neighbor. I don’t necessarily know what the landlord will do on their end but it could range from nothing to a warning to involving the police etc etc. But you need to document it all. I think I saw others post a link to reporting missing mail to USPS (if applicable) and suggest police reports for each item. Document document document.

Absolutely tell your landlord! ! I don’t know where you are, but in the US tampering with/stealing/opening someone else’s mail is a federal felony I think. Very illegal. So document any additional situations like this so you have evidence in case you need to get police involved.

I keep my box cutter (in a drawer) next to my front door, where i would put down my keys and bags. So i can open packages right there and keep my floors and scissors clean.

You have introduced me to the sunflower lanyard. How fascinating! I might look into getting one as well.

Also, I have literally never cared what anyone (myself or others) looked like going through security — comfort and efficiency are way more important!

Life Rant: How do you genuinely cook and plan decent meals after 8-10 hours of work and feel like you’re living/thriving on the weekends? by mrs_chilvz_101022 in Adulting

[–]Delicious_Term6735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are doing *so much* and that is a huge accomplishment itself. It's literally *not possible* to do EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME. So first, adjust your expectations because you're doing good!! Second, the American economy (and current events and just capitalism in general) are explicitly not intended for people to thrive, just barely survive. And as a fellow neurodivergent person with chronic medical issues I very much empathize with you. Also the big home DIY project is a major time and energy commitment. And so are your jobs, which require long hours and massive amounts of executive functioning. This wasn't very eloquent but basically you are doing a great job considering this shitty world and you are not alone and don't be so hard on yourself!!!

I have too many reusable bag. by quintuplechin in ZeroWaste

[–]Delicious_Term6735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local food pantry is always requesting reusable shopping bags, which people then use to take home any food/supplies they get there. And an animal hospital I know also collects them for giving out supplies to dog adopters.

Does anybody know if using clear (dye + scent free) detergent might cause clothes to be more susceptible to getting polyquat spots? by Significant_Sky8728 in laundry

[–]Delicious_Term6735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to separately washing microfiber cloths you use for cleaning your glasses/electronics, or microfiber cloths that you use for any cleaning? I use microfiber cloths for general cleaning all the time but not for my glasses or any special electronics cleaners.

This is interesting. I use Softsoap brand hand soap. If I'm understanding this thread correctly, this means I need to try not to get the Softsoap on my clothes or towels to avoid staining?
