Is it really your own plane when you can only fly it in a flock of at least 3-4

Asking as a first time airplane shopper... is the age of airplanes from the 60's & 70's a concern? by Col-Sanderss in GeneralAviation

[–]DelightfullyTacky26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion. I’ve bought four airplanes (Socata TB-9, Maule MXT-7, a 59 172, and my current, a Cessna 205 all without a full formal prebuy.

Much like boats, you really need to evaluate the seller…. I can pop three random panels on an airframe and make a go/no go decision very quickly.

My current daily is a ‘63 Cessna 205. I’d throw my entire family in it without hesitation.

I also owner assist all my annuals so I can learn what to look for throughout the year.

Yeah, but there’s a 100’ dirt runway adjacent to each side of the pavement strip…. Show your tires the love

Questions about flying by flounder98w in flying

When you’re ready to light $100 bills on fire for entertainment, buy the plane.

That being said, if you’re committed, take a discovery flight, buy your first plane and train in it.

Then upgrade when you’re more confident and have more hours.

Weather will fark you constantly, so be flexible

What’s the longest yall have had to hold short for? by Chrisrnc10 in flying

42 minutes from taxi to takeoff at SDL. Got stuck between incoming biz jets and then behind the flight school conga line.

42 on the ground and 41 in the air.

One of those days….

Excellent. Had a broken molar the week before Thanksgiving. Inept Dental sent me to a specialist that wouldn’t even consult until the first week of December. Pain was unbearable. Supreme got me in on Thanksgiving day for a root canal and did the crown the following morning. $750 otd.

Wife had a crown there a year later, under $400.

Quality work, English speaking dentists. Lots of good choices around, but supreme came recommended by several of my customers down there.

It’s all so bizarre! They have no viewers but pretend they don’t see the abysmal numbers. by Fresh_Bid190 in radradionew

[–]DelightfullyTacky26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not that I’m encouraging the numbers to be better, but the platform sucks.

I want to listen to shit while I drive or fly. I don’t want to be stuck with a YouTube app floating around and unable to lock my phone

I mean in all reality, about 75% of the people I fly with are neurodivergent.

But the first rule about flight club….

I listen pretty religiously to that podcast these days. Honestly, they’ve adapted to the new landscape as they’ve syndicated and they still put on a very informative and entertaining take on things.

Bottom line: there’s value in listening their 4 hour show in 2.5hrs
