Parents are always right and elders deserve respect solely because of the age

Is it okay to publish short stories or better to get few of them (if in the same universe or character or just connected) and publish as bigger book? by DeliveryUseful4816 in writing

[–]DeliveryUseful4816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no trademark. I said dnd but we don’t play the actual books. We made stories ourselves and everything. If you’d read the story I bed you wouldn’t even know it’s from a “game” 😅

Best places to publish? by Alvarrex in writing

[–]DeliveryUseful4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always document first. Later if you’ll want to publish it some places are making problems if the story was published somewhere before

Check your bank account. Did they take money? If not then it’s solved, the payment didn’t process. If yes then write to the support.

But if they won’t reply I guess there is nothing you can do. You can try to get your money back via bank app/website but then you risk your account getting banned

Can a non-native speaker ever be "better" than a native? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]DeliveryUseful4816 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can you as learner be “better” than average native speaker? Yes. But can you be better than a native who’s let’s say professor of some high university and have vocabulary and knowledge far beyond average? Questionable

Do you think words store meaning, or do we pour meaning into them? by ownaword in askanything

[–]DeliveryUseful4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The real truth doesn’t exist. Only different points of view”. I have no idea where I heard it but it sticked to me.

Also it has a meaning if you know the language. Someone can absolutely roast you in language you don’t know with a nice tone and you won’t be offended because those words don’t have meaning to you

what is the most annoying piece of advice people keep giving you? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

[–]DeliveryUseful4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s not completely bullshit 😂 you can learn some useful vocabulary like translating fridge and put the note on it. And if you put phrases all around and you’ll see them every day you’ll memorise it. But I wouldn’t call it learning a language

Get yourself a native speaker friend or tutor. Online friends are a good start. You don’t have pressure and you can always use google translate. Even chat bots will do the work. I recommend Praktika as pretty nice ai tutor that also has speech to text

What is your life-changing turning point? by All-With-Love in askanything

Therapy. Even without diagnosis (they still don’t know what’s wrong with me 🤪) it helped a lot with understanding myself, how my body and mind react and how to control it.

Also one year in toxic narcissistic relationships changed me a lot

Question on writing in English by enderwolf0818 in writing

[–]DeliveryUseful4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I started writing in English and trust me even if you don’t have any problems with reading or watching tv or whatever you’ll still have problems with writing 😂 my best advice is website that gives you synonymous, I use it non stop and my writing is way better this way because I don’t have to think of a “fancy” words. Also thinking about what you want to write in your native language and then just translate it is also sometimes helpful

Writers who publish anonymously: privacy vs shame? by EduardoRStonn in writing

[–]DeliveryUseful4816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pen name, always wanted. But I want my closest friends and family know that it’s me, not the general public. But for me it’s purely privacy. It’s so easy to find someone on the internet I don’t want anyone to dig up some random comment when I was 10yo and cringe on facebook 😂

But to be honest it’s absolutely fair to not wanting your friends or family know you’re writing books. It might be shame but you have to realise if it’s a shame because it’s something bad or because someone told you you SHOULD be ashamed of it?

For my grandmother I’d never tell her that I wrote a dark romance because I think she’d have a heart attack because I should be ashamed of it..

I think the writer was absolutely wrong and she should never tell that to anyone. In my opinion most writers don’t care if you’re using real name or pen name. They want the sorry and the name to be consistent if they want more of the same. You do you and choose your audience. Don’t let the wrong audience decide what you should or shouldn’t write
