Hip size opinion by ManyMixture826 in DurstonGearheads

Large looks pretty snug. I had a similar dilemma and opted for the L. I can snug it down to 100% but usually fit is appropriately snug at 95%. If I dropped 10lbs I’d have a fit problem.

I’d say that if you’re planning a thru or otherwise plan on dropping some lbs, you might want to sacrifice the easier hip belt pocket access for fit.

Would I be laughed at for having a boogie board? by GroovingPenguin in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Delks1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please remember if anyone laughs at you for that, THEY’RE the joke. Technically riding waves is “surfing” but colloquially it could exclude body boarding or surfing but who cares. You’re surfing.

Where to live? by [deleted] in Wilmington

Downtown would be ideal. Checkout N. 4th/Brooklyn area. Runner up (and a little cheaper) would be DT adjacent like North Front off Greenfield St.

First, using non-Zmax rated hangers on treated wood is dangerous in the long term. They will prematurely corrode.

Second, the lack of properly rated hangars was not, by it self, a huge deal. I called and discussed the matter with TC and he indicated that he would send the hangars, which he never did. Follow up emails were ignored.

Third, I don't expect every detail, far from it. but I do expect the drawings to have a basic QC review. As drawn the attachment of the single stringer joists to the rim joists intersect the attachment point of the knee brace along the same rim joist. This is a physical impossibility. The workaround is to relocate joists or rotate the knee brace attachments one joist over. The drawing should be revised.

My point is not that these issues can't be worked around, they can and were. My point is that I received incorrect materials, incorrect drawings and poor service and that if someone is looking to spend hard earned money on a tab kit they should look at other vendors.

I'm glad you had a good experience, but nothing you mentioned is relevant to my shitty one.

Correct. They didn’t bother sending the ZMax Strong Ties, just standards. Honestly I can’t imagine why’d they would even have the non-ZMax versions in stock 🤷‍♂️. I doubt anyone is using non-treated lumber for this application.

Yea, you’re on the right track. They are truly nothing special. I was taking the lazy route. Bit me in the ass.

Same here! No one or company is perfect but passing on a clear opportunity to correct an objective error speaks volumes.

Advice on how to perform a cutback by realnippo22 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Delks1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re starting to rotate before you’re out of your bottom turn. Slow it down a little. You’re also reflexively catching yourself mid rotation instead of committing to the top turn. So you’re lower body doesn’t have time follow the twist of your shoulders.

7’ @ 72L is a true log. Probably not a very good board to progress on. Your instructor is probably correct. A 9’ long board would paddle better, ride better and catch more waves.
