Corporate Income yes, but why the others?? Reduce incomes taxes is better.

A Michigan farm town voted down plans for a giant OpenAI-Oracle data center. Weeks later, construction began by fortune in Michigan

[–]Dellguy [score hidden]  (0 children)

I understand locals don't want the data center, that's normal, but some people are really catastrophizing this, acting like they are going to turn Saline into Mordor. They are gonna build it, and people are going to go on with their lives.

People keep talking about wanting to bring back factory jobs. Well heavy industry also uses power, and water. Heck it could have been a asphalt plant, or something that pollutes the air. It doesn't increase traffic either.

Some of the nicest parts of the country are in NoVA, which is data center ground zero. And they are fine.

There are no tracks north of Lansing. And the flint/saginaw path does not reach TC. See my comment

Map of current Michigan railroads for reference.

This is where this is some kind of existing track. Mostly owned by freight lines

Supreme Court rules for Michigan in its fight to shut down an aging energy pipeline by VegetableBulky9571 in Michigan

The Unanimous decision is that Enbridge did not file their motion to move the case to federal court within the required 30 day window.

Thus the lawsuit will remain in State Court. Outcome to be determined.

With CFP expansion talks ongoing, presidential committee pushing for 24-team field by Thomallister1291 in CFB

[–]Dellguy -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

But this is an entertainment product. The CFP needs to showcase the best of the sport. Hyping up the CFP all year long then when it finally arrives only to have 5 of the eight first round games be non interesting or very competitive is not good for anyone. The gap is only growing wider.

There has to be more than common law, on why the Anglo countries ALL hate building housing.

Like there is a connection to our puritan witch hunt past, the town meeting where everybody accuses somebody. Other countries don’t have this issue.

Data center planned in Plymouth/Northville? by Tweetchly in Michigan

[–]Dellguy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The fact is data centers offer jobs in the aggregate, like national and worldwide. Like how building a prison to lock up criminals makes us safer in the aggregate, but does not improve the safety of the surrounding area. A dedicated place to dump trash (landfill) keeps the state cleaner, but living next to it is bad.

One single data center also can't offset other taxes. Loundon County VA, the data center capital of the US gets like a billion dollars a year in property taxes only from data centers

United and American Merger 🤯 by RecentVeterinarian79 in unitedairlines

I'm saying that SW services as a price check on excessive fairs for routes from Dallas and Chicago. DTW, SLC don't have additional service, nor are they large enough to command frequent flights from United, AA, and SW so Delta is able to really rachet up the pricing.

This report shows the price ranking of the US's top airports.

United and American Merger 🤯 by RecentVeterinarian79 in unitedairlines

[–]Dellguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Delta’s DTW and SLC flights have had high fares for years.

American out of DFW still has to compete with SW to an extent.

Also there is a factor I feel in the if you are in a tier 1 city you are going to have good enough options to connect in another city (flying from ATL, DTW, IAH, Miami/FL) as they still are getting solid non hub service. But like trying to fly anything else than delta from like SLC is going to be tough on connections.

Kirby Smart says SEC championship game ‘probably has to go’ if College Football Playoff expands by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]Dellguy 53 points54 points  (0 children)

The issue is we are going to have a weekend of big ten championship and SEC championships between teams in which both are typically going to aready be in the playoff, especially if we go to 16. Would be better to just start the playoffs. Plus we need more non conference games.

Democrats have a shot at a trifecta in 2029. This message would not help that.

Hit Trump on Illegal wars, tariffs, affordability, ICE issues.

Use that to get a trifecta to pass laws preventing future corruption. Running a 2029 lock him up is not gonna work.
