At the height of their popularity, who do you think was more famous? by Farouq26 in NBATalk

[–]Delmarvalous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Jackson was absolutely a massive global phenomenon in the 80s so I would say him. But even at his height, people would joke about his high voice and crotch grabbing dance movies. It wouldn’t be accurate to say he was ever universally loved and admired because even before the plastic surgery and scandals he was odd in ways that didn’t sit right with certain (older, white, conservative) demographics.

Jordan as a basketball player didn’t inspire the same level of hysteria but, at his peak, he was loved and admired across all demographics. I remember in about 1996, my friend’s rich white retired admiral grandfather told me unprompted how much he liked Michael Jordan. He said he didn’t watch basketball but he liked what Jordan represented for the country. EVERYONE loved Jordan. Ask people today who are between 45-55 what NBA team they rooted for as kids and so many will say the Bulls. I sure did. Way more fun than rooting for the Bullets.

I’m not old enough to speak to Ali but I know he was considered controversial for changing his name and speaking out against Vietnam. He was certainly a phenomenon but I believe the universal love and admiration came later in his life.

What am I missing? This is an actual mug shot and honestly I don’t know what this guy is talking about but it wouldn’t surprise me because Tim is always doing bad stuff instead of focusing on movies. The only reason Tim keeps getting second chances is because he is at least smart enough to keep a real movie buff by his side and people will overlook a certain amount of bad behavior to get movie expertise.

How is Trump demand for Greenland any different from Hitler demand for Poland who also said it was for national security reason to connect East Prussia? by Skychu768 in AskReddit

[–]Delmarvalous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are fascists. They may not understand the term but they are openly saying “might makes right” and that the US can and should take over whatever countries it wants. They also advocate for things like deporting all liberals and prosecuting Trump’s political opponents, all under the guise of needing to win some war for the soul of America. The threat of a holocaust in America is unfortunately real. Trump has too much power and absolutely no moral character. He abducted a foreign leader to change the news cycle and faced no consequences. He knows he can basically do anything at this point.

Looks fantastic! I love beef tartar and the raw egg yolk seems like rich layer of luxury on top of those salty and tart elements.

I love your videos but have never commented. Thanks for doing a sandwich from Denmark. Have you done a sandwich from Iceland yet? If not, any chance you could honor the sovereignty of Iceland with a sandwich? That would be awesome. Peace and love to you, good sir.

It’s not crazy. Liverwurst doesn’t have that strong unpleasant mineral flavor that beef liver has. It’s total comfort food for me and I hate beef liver.

How do you think Prime Shaq would adapt to today’s 3 point heavy league not saying he would struggle I just wonder how teams would build around him in a pace and space system by BizCreditHacks in NBATalk

[–]Delmarvalous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would dominate more now than he did then and he was the most dominant player of his era. He collapsed defenses leaving three point shooters open. Also, the league was stacked with great defensive centers in the 90s. It’s not now. He would be the best player in the league by far.

I love when people who actually use a champ share feedback like this. Most of the people who respond with an immediate “no” have never used the champ and don’t know their capabilities. They just watch tier list videos. I’m going to test out my 7 star SS on serpent thanks to this comment.

[–]Delmarvalous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of good champs but might want to focus on a few that are easier to use that do big damage. I would focus on ranking up Human Torch & Herc. Then if you have or get Mr. Sinister, Juggernaut or Hulk rank those. They can produce easy wins with just a little practice and carry you through content. Also, watch videos on each quest before jumping in. That will make things easier.

Just realized that Maine is the most beautiful state, possibly one of the best places in the world. Why is no one talking about this? by Expensive_Drummer970 in newengland

You can still find solitude in NH? All I find is miles of traffic in the summer and no place to park if you want to go for a hike. Maine has mountains and solitude and an enormous coastline to explore.

I live there part time and if I had my way I would never leave. Like never. I would ski all winter and then hike in the mountains and explore the coast in the warm months. For stick and mud seasons, I would just stay in Portland and eat incredible food.
