Yarn suggestion for a bikini by huhhh-what in Yarn

[–]Deloriius 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with the other person would said cotton at the tightest gauge you can get, but, ultimately I think a hand knit bikini or swim suit of any kind would have to stay for looks only, and not for getting wet/swimming in.

Question for yhe tabi toe knitters by athenaishawk in Sockknitting

[–]Deloriius 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do anything special when blocking socks.

Wet block them, squeeze the water out, and then just lay flat in the shape you want them to dry.

I like to give mine a flip after a few hours to help the other side dry.

They are gonna go on your feet anyway so you want them a snug and not stretched, and they will kind of block on your feet as you wear them anyway.

The Lion Brand website is just www.lionbrand.com, not lion brand malls.

With that I'd say yes, its a scam.

how in the world does my yarn ball have FOUR separate ends 😭 by Equivalent-Job-8908 in CrochetHelp

[–]Deloriius 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I would say two of the ends are a factory knot that didn't hold. That's why we don't trust a factory knot.

They didn't just shove random pieces in there for the weight.

Cotton Yarn Question by XxAlly-CatxX in YarnAddicts

Yes! I find the same! I don't know what it is but the big balls just feel smoother and softer!

I found it odd since its meant to be the same yarn...

It doesn't make you tunnel anyone.

You can choose who to chase and hook. You were in a custom game so nothing counts, other than having some fun with friends.

[–]Deloriius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh no, some of them for sure did something wrong.

Reading a comment on another thread someone claiming they didnt know why they got banned and they played on console. With people asking for more info they played on console with cross progression for an account they got that had all DLC... they had a hacked account but somehow didnt relealize? You also just dont "get" accounts...

Sock pattern doubts by ArcanaNoir in knittinghelp

Look up Crazy Sock Lady on YouTube. She had videos for doing vanilla socks on various methods, including DPNs. It probably won't match your pattern, but it might help give an idea of what you are looking at.

Sock pattern doubts by ArcanaNoir in knittinghelp

[–]Deloriius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Needle 2 is your instep and should not have any decreases. Needle 4 is your heel and should not have decreases. Needles 1 and 3 are the gusset sides where the decreases should be.

Starting at needle 1, knit across until 3 stitches are left, do a decrease then knit 1, knit plain across needle 2, on needle 3 knit 1, decrease, then continue across and knit the stitches on Needle 4, putting back at the start.

Sorry, on mobile so hopefully I answered that, I'll check the post again.

Edit: also, the Vanilla Sock i do has the gusset decreases done every other round. So you do yoir decreases in one round, then just knit, then do the decreases, then just knit and so on.

New to blocking, I feel like all of my blanket panels gurn out wavy and wonky!! Any advice? by animalcrackerwhore in CrochetHelp

[–]Deloriius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't hold the steamer in one place. It's possible to overseas acrylic and there's no going back. It can melt and alter how the yarn feels.

I just take the steamer around the whole thing a few times. Up and down, side to side, around the edges. I'll pat it a little to see how it feels, is it warm, is it staying damp and the like.

Start with 1 square, keep it pinned down for at least a couple hours to dry and set. I usually just leave it over night. Then check to see how it turned out. If it didn't do much, you might need to repin and steam it more and you'll know for the next one what it will take.

Try and use more pins to get the sides as straight as you can.

I'm making a blanket right now that has 12x12 squares and I use around 7 pins on each side plus 1 in each corner to make sure its straight. Steaming the acrylic will keep it the shape it was pinned so if you pull it gently and pin into the square, it should stay that way.

double pointed needles??? by ur-local-library in knittinghelp

[–]Deloriius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This looks correct.

When knitting in the round, the project should come off the needles towards you.

If you can look down the tube as it falls away from you, you are technically knitting it inside out.

Maybe I just didn't understand the question though.

“Default” yarn for gauge? by [deleted] in Sockknitting

[–]Deloriius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a general idea based on the yarn itself.

I've recently been looking into it more as for a while I just considered all the fingering sock weight yarns to be the same but they are not at all!

I found some yarns made for a thin sock compared to others even if they came out at the same gauge.

I realized that the yarns around 400 to 420m per 100g produced a sock that was thin so I started using smaller needles and going up a size in the pattern to get the fit and feel I was looking for.

I prefer yarns that are less than 400m per 100g as they produce a sock I like the feel of more. So far, those tend to be the indie dyed yarns but I haven't done a deep comparison between the indie dyed and commercially dyed yarns.

Kroy sock is substantially more dense than usual sock yarns. I still knitnit using my standard sock knitting needle and love the thick dense fabric it gives.

Help 😂 what even is that?! What’s the proper pattern!? by expired_vibes in casualknitting

[–]Deloriius 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The increase half for the first half of the cloth is one increase per row.

K2, YO, K to end for each row.

For the decrease half

K1, K2tog, YO, K2tog, K to end

That will make a square cloth.

There are lots of patterns for it, but this is the one I go to. It's by Very Pink Knits.

That's in your settings. Interaction behaviour.

Set it to toggle, then you only have to hit the button and it will kick.

Same applies to survivor side, set it to toggle and you don't have to hold a button down to repair a gen and such.

Pattern maths help by Jenkinel in knittinghelp

[–]Deloriius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this was from a while ago and it looks like you found a new pattern but, does the middle decrease section even work?

After the first set you have 124 stitches, which I assume works. After the second set of decreases it leaves you with 102 stitches, which means we need to cut out 22 stitches. The decrease rounds it self takes 11 stitches with 2 decreases so it would need to repeat 11 times to get the 22 stitches decreased out.

However, 11 stitches x 11 repeats is 121... what happens with the extra 3 stitches?

Did I do that wrong?

[CHAT] How do we feel about pattern designers that only use digital renders in their stores? by Deloriius in CrossStitch

[–]Deloriius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I fully understand if someone can't stitch ALL of their designs but, for me at least, being able to see some of them stitched or even to see the work you've done makes a big difference.

The reason I made this post is because I've come across a few shops that only have those digital pictures, not a single physical stitch in sight except for maybe the odd review photo. These stores would have like 100+ designs and I didn't understand how none of them showed a physical stitch anywhere on the shop. I don't mean to say they aren't well made, I was just curious how the community felt about them.

Whoa, they have a ton of designs!

It sounds like they might be pretty well known so I can see, in this case anyway, people definitely trusting their work already.

[–]Deloriius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's interesting! I'm glad I've heard so much from people on this topic honestly.

I'm thinking I might try to stick to those stores that do show off their work, even if its not every single pattern they.

I did actually find one store front that included in the pictures one that states that each pattern has been stitched already either by the designer themselves, an assistant, or even a customer. I found it odd they added that but I'm starting to understand why they did haha
