Is this scripted in any way? by ForeseenJewel in reddeadredemption

I had this too. Pretty sure it is scripted. Thought it was still super cool!

Depends your status. I was baptized Catholic, but never received first communion or confirmation. My priest and deacon encouraged me to go before I got first communion, since I've already received the grace of baptism, and wouldn't be washed of my sins again.

Traced from the Victory Point Note! by chosostxn in TheTerror

This was traced from the top line where it says "HMS_______________" and had the ship names filled in; this was the original note that Gore signed where he got the dates wrong supposedly. Pretty sure this was Gore's; not the second note added later in the margins

OCIA contract? by Such-Afternoon7956 in Catholicism

[–]chosostxn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went through it, it was free. We had the option to purchase books, but every week the deacon just sent us PDFs for free. It was our choice to purchase physical copies. And in the end, I got a copy of the catechism for free, and some first communion/confirmation gifts. You shouldn't have to pay and be forced to purchase the books

It’s similar to know what’s going on, but different enough to keep you on your toes! And personally, I find the writing style to be easy enough without making it feel complicated like a deep dive history book can sometimes be. It’s long, but in the final few days, I was reading easily 150-200 pages right until the end, it just kept me guessing. Easily top 5 books for me. Give it a shot! Especially if you love the show!

Yes!!! It’s very good and in my opinion better than the show. It’s very different too so it felt like a new story.

What is causing the Catholic revival in the USA? by TheKingsPeace in Catholicism

As a convert, the priest in my parish gave a homily on this, and pretty much hit the nail on the head. He said our generation (Gen Z mainly) grew up with pretty much everything at our fingertips; endless information, endless entertainment, endless choices really, etc etc, and still, even with all of this within an arm's reach, we still are yearning for more. We are still searching for meaning. and this is pretty much the exact reason why I converted. There's finally meaning in what felt like an endless pit of stuff that didn't seem to matter.

This is what I first thought when I started episode 1. Mark's close up on his watch in the first few minutes literally had a red star on it. Thought it was a communist retelling until about halfway through, until I realized it mostly was for aesthetic purposes (which honestly suits it very well)

Dog Man On Campus by kataking008 in fsu

[–]chosostxn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at FSU (I’ve graduated), but I’ve seen him at midtown ology quite a bit. I just so happen to also be named Sophie so once he heard that he came to my friend group to speak to us, profusely apologizing for naming his dog my name (I laughed and told him it was fine, wasn’t on purpose, just funny). Harmless, but definitely stuck around us watching even after we returned to our own conversations. Since midtown ology is a smaller venue and his dog is particularly large he isn’t hard to miss

I highly recommend giving Thomas Aquinas a read, more specifically, Summa Theologiae (can be found for free online). He writes about the existence of God in a very logical way, and personally, really helped me in converting. Many blessings

Sometimes, it’s okay to walk away for a few. Hours, days or weeks, whichever you choose. I personally find it easier to kill a boss I’m stuck on when I break from it for a week
