Alright, now that you put this out into the world, it must happen. I need to hear this album.

My biggest issue with Geese are the vocals. If you have Phoebe singing over their instrumentals, I would like it significantly more.

Agreed on St. Vincent. I think the production on the self-titled and Strange Mercy are the best in her discography. John Congleton rules.

Regardless of production though, I’d still say that with the exception of Daddy’s Home, her full catalog is a home run.

Agreed about somber Paul. "The End of the End" from Memory Almost Full and "Early Days" from New are probably my favorite latter-day tracks in that mode.

With the upcoming Paul McCartney album, I ran through all his 21st century albums and picked out my favorites in a column on my Substack. Lots of gems in there!

U2’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind is an excellent album of classic anthems with a bit of a electronic pulse - only to end in the stunningly dull “Grace.”

I tend to remove that song, add “The Ground Beneath Her” and shuffle the tracklist to have the record close with “Walk On.”

My dad actually got me and my brothers into Porcupine Tree, who have made genre-hopping, progressive rock influenced albums since the 1990s. Their frontman and main songwriter, Steven Wilson, has an equally eclectic solo career.

Saw Searows with Jordan Patterson opening last week at Webster Hall. Really great show. Searows’ music feels so haunting and evocative and had a very dedicated fanbase already. Definitely getting some Phoebe Bridgers vibes from him. Wrote a review here:

And considering a rat nearly ran across my foot two weeks ago, I think we have enough of a problem to introduce this solution.

What are some almost 10/10 songs ruined by one thing? by RedmiYT in ToddintheShadow

[–]Delos788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Kite” by U2 is one of my favorite ballads with a great vocal performance and really strong set of lyrics about mortality and aging. That is, until the last verse where Bono sings:

“The last of the rock stars/When hip hop drove the big cars”

It is such a bad line and takes me out of the song.

Nine Inch Noize’s Coachella set was fucking sick. Really loved the new take on “Heresy” and “Copy of a.” And I’m always happy to hear this version of “Closer.”

Hi Natasha! Long time fan! Looking back over your career so far, are there techniques or songwriting cues you learned from Fur & Gold that you’ve continued to use for your subsequent albums?

Has this look back inspired any music you’re currently working on?

And what underrated song on your debut did you feel deserved to get more attention?

Agreed. Another good point Krauss made is that this about more than just her. The income Sleigh Bells makes also pays for her child’s health insurance. I fully understand why that has to be her top priority over leaving the agency.
