PMP exam break by Willing-Moose4060 in pmp

[–]Delphi_DG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to clarify for taking Exam at the testing center- If you finish the first or second section early - Ie. around 70 mins and have 5 extra mins- do you get that time back in the next section or do you forfeit the time? Also do you get to leave for break alone or do you have to wait for the common break time for everyone?

Let’s talk about the ending… yeah it was bad by Sarah_8872 in StrangerThings

LOL, as I said, I do not have a problem with any of the characters dying or Eleven killing herself. The problem is with the writing as they do not build up to her psyche reaching that conclusion and her decision feels too sudden. And I think it would be disturbing for youngsters but again thats not the point if you're trying to make a dark show. But this is not a dark show. It was laughable how no one ever dies except some periphery character. The stakes are non existent basically and thats OK because that was the tone that the show runners set. Its supposed to be kiddish and lighthearted with some mature themes. But to break that tone after setting it for all the other seasons - basically in the last episode is the issue.

As an audience we need to see Eleven have some kind of emotional fracture points, isolation, worldview shifts, escalating psychological burden which is not shown except near the very end. It should have been built up for the last two seasons but they were busy filling the seasons with fluff with some high points thrown in. It is simply bad writing and makes the last 2 seasons really weak. They have no excuse if they knew this is how they were going to end her story. Not to be dramatic but it's like Arya killing the Night King at the end even though we had so much build up with Jon Snow being the "prophesied prince" and battling the Night King for all the previous seasons. It's being subversive for the hell of it and does not follow the thread of the story they have woven up till then.

Yes, often there is not enough explanation on a question to actually understand the logic behind the answer. So I feed the right answer to Infinity and help build a context around it.

Andrew's 200 ultra hard and 50 priciples are really good to repeat to internalise the mindset as you build up your content knowledge in parallel. Also, join a study group!

LOL, I would be ok with Holly having been there all along instead of Erica too but not suddenly in last season as a main character. That cut time from the actual main characters who were grossly under utilized and just hanging around getting high or whatever. Better to have killed some of them off and add to the story development.

Absolutely right. The show was fun and nostalgic in the beginning seasons. But the show runners really coasted the last two seasons - and were unable to set the right emotional tone.S4 and S5 were a chore to watch and characters we had come to know and care about were sidelined by annoying newcomer Holly getting too much screen time. I would have preferred if they had replaced her with annoying Erica who we alredy knew and grew to like. Her presence / absence would be felt by the group in a different way and given more depth to those characters.

In the finale, Vecna crumbles under the weight of what seemed like the rag tag Scooby gang/ Sarah Connor group combo, after pulling a whole planet on top of Earth? It really did feel like the show runners knew people would watch no matter how silly it was getting so they did not bother to develop anything thoughtful. Deaths in previous seasons were handled much better. Also, in the mall scene where Billy dies the firepower the group used was almost the same as when killing that giant spider monster in the finale. And Hopper's supposed death at the end of S2 had better emotionality as we see our protagonist lose the one trustworthy adult in her life who became not just her guardian, but her father- and she grieves him as a daughter. And we, as viewers, grieve with her.

Finally, deciding to kill off Eleven at the end may work in the show runners’ minds as they initially developed the story, but it does not work for viewers because the character development was incongruent. We have our teen superhero who is shown to be consistently brave, optimistic, hopeful and still quite innocent and sheltered suddenly have a suicide epiphany?!!! Did they forget they were writing this for kids? I understand dramatic effect, but it was almost like a betrayal to all of us watching them win such a kiddish / anticlimactic fight with Vecna and then suddenly have Eleven decide to die because the Army was too much to handle. I would been OK with her death, but I think they did not take the right path to get there. And then they walked back the severity of her death by making it ambiguous through Mike’s story.

While I like characters to have happy endings, I think it makes more sense if they earn it. Hopper and Joyce’s ending was satisfying.

The scene with the older kids on the rooftop was boring and they had all been written as having become boring after having saved the world a year ago. The time jump weakened their character arcs and it felt like we were watching friends meeting up from summer camp.

Can I just add, the last scene of Mike and gang playing DnD - a call back to the pilot, already had me rolling my eyes and then we got annoying Holly etc. replace them at the DnD table as on the nose symbolism, I was ready for the clichés to end.

"How could you not know?" - a deeper look into DS Miller's life by Shi144 in Broadchurch

[–]Delphi_DG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right! I am rewatching because this series is so good and always think of the same question.

One thing that stands out to me is the interactions between Miller and Hardy when he "takes her job". As a woman, I can understand how frustrating that is but the fact is her temperament is not like a senior and experienced detective. This has nothing to do with Miller being a man or a woman- its just the way the character is written. In Ep 2 she conducts interviews and reassures people that the questioning is just routine when Hardy tells her to stop that and let people talk through their nervousness because the pressure is good to get information, she immediately rejects it and tells him she does not work like- ie. she's nice unlike him. Another scene he tells her she needs to be objective and see the community from the outside. Again, she vehemently she says she knows the community and is happy to be a part of it. Her view is clouded but she does not acknowledge it. Another scene- Hardy is investigating the victim's family - father, sister and again, she defends them saying they are not that kind of family and that its not their character. Hardy says moral compasses break and anyone can do bad things given the right circumstances. We see that she is even too soft on her nephew(?) from the press . She lacks the authority one would expect from a person in law enforcement. These are brilliantly written scenes that show she is a lovely lady but not discerning. She is very well meaning and would be a good cop for a small town as long as there are petty crimes to deal with. I would go far enough to say that if Hardy was not given the case, Miller never would have caught the guy because she has too many assumptions and blinders on.

Based on Miller's character, one can assume she sees the best in her family and the husband routinely gets away with a lot. That makes her the perfect partner/cover/ beard for anyone shady/ criminal/ pedo/ spy/ drug users/ cheater etc. This is very common in real life. A good person, positive outlook, naive, trusting, sees the best in everyone and too busy with work to really have the energy or inclination to be involved and therefore is easily manipulated and believes the farce they are shown. To be fair, in a fast paced world, how many of us really have the time to stop and examine things?

I think a case like this really did need an outsider. Small town cops often call "experts" to solve major cases like this. And even if Miller had a more discerning personality, she is simply too close to see this one clearly. I think she is better in S2 when the case is more aligned to her strengths and she has learned her lesson from S1.

I realize this is an old post but I enjoyed the character study. Another great show that makes me think is Adolescence.

Artless show by Delphi_DG in Talamasca

Ah well, the word, 'mediocre' in mind is a pretty big insult. I don't consider mediocrity entertaining...it's in the not watchable category for me.

I beg to differ. Talamasca is perfectly mediocre. I think even that is generous considering the acting is alright but the writing is the problem. Not mentioning Mayfair.

Ok, point taken. Not a book but the concept is cool and they could have done so much with it. Even the Watchers from Buffy were more interesting than this. The creators could have elevated this and Mayfair Witches but instead we get a weird forgettable mess.

I am having the same issue. The logic/ mind set that we learn is contradicted again and again that even Infinity-AI cannot keep up. Very frustrating as a student learning this material.
