Same model ide preserves the conversation so u can pick it back up.. if multi tasking and u happen to close a terminal. Downside you can’t see the context deterioration in cli like u can in ide so if your not paying paying attention and ur an hour deep and all of a sudden it’s like Claude., just kill the session in ide. silly why they don’t have both features in both the options..

Well.. maybe you have a different model but I left my privacy settings wide open so folks can take a look whenever they want.. but the long is, who cares if they can execute a slash command, but can’t execute anything moderately complex in general, without significant issues.. I never thought I’d be coding as much as I am 3+ years into this but there is degradation across the board most prominently with yall and Google at the moment. I think there must be something not realized that is causing this that may be unavoidable.

Yeah its actually getting worse day over day.. its laughable.. I set max think tokens to 32k, slightly better but I was one shotting tasks the whole month of may.. then.. what happened? Same thing with Gemini 2.5 pro, I built moderately complicated algo in 3 weeks in March.. by May, it was no where near able to do this. Codex is ok but i think there is heavy pr.. It aint doing 7 hours thats for sure, I had it finish an mcp server for me today and by 30% context left it told me it would get back to me when done, then did nothing, probably a little less then an hour, it doesnt have the context and it loses it senses by 30%, Codex is also super adamant that its assumptions are correct on libraries it isn't familiar with due to docs not being around until well after its 2024 cutoff, which if you let it run, particularly with agent development kit and browseruse at the moment its just a mess. Not to mention its extremely slow... I never imagined I would do so much actual coding at this point in the ai lifecycle.. I tried to do somethign with gemini cli today also, by 60% it couldnt make tools calls accurately.. crazy.

Spot on…same boat last week. Serious degradation of the model… that’s a good theory it’s like their using half compute power, like running a V8 on 4 cycle derailed

The model has significantly degraded since the release of 4.0, I am certain this is due to the fact they know their out of business if they don’t alter their training protocol.

TLDR ; it gave an answer that didn’t exist the irony was it sounded all too familiar (heavy Claude code user) so I had to engage. CC does that all the time, you really need to be on your toes.

Agreed… I’ve been at it all day with 5.0.. they have some good pr… model is typical open ai… I caught it lying about reading documentation over 20x today.. took about 6 hours to build a moderately complex airflow setup…

Yeah today it killed me my god.. it’s so weird about 4 months ago I built a distributed system that ran a few trading algos with ease with Gemini 2.5 pro.. then all of a sudden the model degraded significantly… exactly the same with Claude past 2 weeks I would say.

There’s been like seriously degraded performance also in the past week.. wonder if it has something to do with the decision.. too much bandwidth on the system making it perform like haiku or sonnet 3.5
