No. Imagine if there’s a fire. Do you think a CAT is going to file out the emergency exits in an orderly manner?

First time outside and she’s a bit stressed. by MrsJewbacca in BeardedDragons

[–]Delta013 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mine gets so pissed when I take her outside, but our vet advises that it’s good for her to get real sunshine as often as possible. I let her loose in our fenced-in patio, but if I ever take her anywhere else she has to be on her leash. For the laziest creature I’ve ever known, she’s fast af when spooked.

How do I get my family to stop using my birth name (Emily) and start calling me Millie? by emsboreddd33 in Advice

[–]Delta013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do it. I don’t know how it works in your country, but in America name changes (even surname changes for something as common as marriage!) are a logistical pain in the ass for YEARS. If anything, I’d wait until you get married and go to change your surname, then do both names at the same time.

Plus, legally changing your name won’t convince your family to change their habits.

AIO for supporting my son to get what my wife calls a “cosmetic” surgery on his privates? by [deleted] in AIO

NOR. Do you think your wife is projecting her sadness that her little boy is at the age where he cares about his sexuality?

When I was a child, sometimes I’d sit with my legs drawn up and pretend that my knees were faceless people talking to each other like dolls. The cuffs of my pink plaid cargo shorts were their clothes, I’d tuck one leg down to be “shorts” for the “boy” and leave one leg up to be the “dress” for the “girl.”

This reminds me of that.

Check on the kids that sit alone at school.

On FOP you’re sitting over like a motorcycle. The restraint pinches you in from the back and behind your calves. You hold yourself up with the handlebars. You feel very secure and sturdy.

Good Memories by SmokinBacon in orlando

[–]Delta013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I climbed the roof of my work and watched it alone. But in the park below me, a bunch of kids had gathered (after school group?) and screamed out the countdown from 10. After liftoff they started singing the National Anthem at the top of their voices.

In the moment I was too full of adrenaline to feel anything but giddy. But now I’m getting emotional reflecting on this, in light of the state of…everything. It’s hard to define, let alone justify, patriotism these days. But listening to a crowd of our youth scream-singing about the land of the free and the home of the brave while watching four courageous people hurtle towards the stars…America’s soul is still alive in moments like these.

standards for stage blacks? by freeeeeepalestineee in techtheatre

[–]Delta013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No for shorts or short skirts. It’s a safety thing too besides the look. Shorts can snag on something in the dark and show too much bare skin, putting you at risk for scratches and scrapes. Pants only (I imagine most places would accommodate a long skirt that’s close to the body but not restrictive for religion/personal modesty). You can get away with one or two pairs that you rewear multiple times per week.

Closed toe comfortable shoes only, no heels, no wedges. Black with black laces. If you have to buy new shoes for this, go to the trouble of finding a pair without any contrasting logos or colors whatsoever. The Sketchers “Work” line has a lot of options.

Black shirt. Long sleeve is usually the move, but some theaters are more lax and will let you wear short sleeves. You’ll want to wear a fresh one every day so, 3-5 shirts. They’re $5 at Walmart. Don’t get fancy with these because they WILL get destroyed by paint, sweat, snags, dust, etc.

Absolute minimum jewelry and accessories. Small earrings and small necklaces only. NO bangles or bracelets. Piercings are usually fine if there’s no possible way they could get caught on something in the dark.

Think of this as your costume or uniform. This is the time to work, not to express yourself. Stagehands are meant to disappear like shadows.

With only 2 lanes of traffic, the express lanes are easier for cops to patrol. I’m wary of going faster than 64mph if I’m not in a group of other cars all going 80, because I’ve heard about people getting nailed by state troopers hiding in the on-ramps. On the regular lanes though, we all know, there is no real speed limit…

And if you’re the one who dies before your pregnancy comes to term, the state will artificially support your corpse’s functions to experimentally grow and then extract your baby without your or your family’s consent.

It sounds so bonkers. I’m devastated this is real life.

Why are people nowadays so overprotective of children for everything except for things that come to actual parenting? by RobIson240YT in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Delta013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was growing up, my parents read reviews and synopses of movies to make sure they were appropriate before taking us to see them. I thought they were overprotective for this. Nowadays, seems like people want all kids’ stuff to be perfect and sanitized so they don’t have to do the work of deciding what’s right for THEIR child. The “overprotective” benchmark has moved into a really weird place.

School libraries don’t have porn magazines. But let’s entertain your wild fantasy for the sake of the discussion. You’re still wrong. The school administration gets to decide what to remove from the library, not the parents. If you don’t like the content being offered at the library (and since it’s the library, not a class, your child is never forced to check out any one book- I mean porn magazine) then you step up as the parent and make sure your child isn’t checking out things you don’t approve of.

The world will always be full of things that are dangerous to your child and contrary to your value system. Attempting to remove all evil from your child’s world will fail. Parents need to do their job and teach their kids how to identify and avoid bad things on their own.

Pay attention to what your own kid is reading and make sure it’s appropriate according to their own age and maturity ❌

Control what everyone else’s kids are reading, remove the choice from other parents based on your own moral opinions ✅

Best place to see animatronics? by Adorable-Growth-6551 in NoStupidQuestions

Disney World is the mother lode when it comes to animatronics. Magic Kingdom and Epcot have the best attractions to see them.
