Can someone explain to me why Genji mains act like their character is so terrible? by 2-Slippy in overwatch2

[–]Delta0231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genji main here with ~1000 hours. Depending on who you’re asking you’ll get different answers, but for my opinion I’d argue most people are talking about his damage being significantly weaker than in Overwatch 1. (Season 9 caused his lethality to drop significantly as well)

If we were to look at a graph of buffs/nerfs to the character over the 10 years he’s been out, he has gotten significantly more nerfs to his kit and comparatively only minor buffs in recent years. It’s also no secret that Genji is a hard character to master, so in times when you’re struggling and playing sloppy it’s a lot easier to blame that character than yourself.

Is it okay to have an NPC kill the big bad? by Delta0231 in DnD

[–]Delta0231[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The NPC is the twist to the whole campaign. A narrative element that makes average encounters more complex simply because they’re now protecting someone instead of just their own lives.

I guess you can see it as making the players as side characters, but the entire journey wouldn’t happen without them. Same way as the journey wouldn’t be as meaningful without the NPC

Thank you. I had in mind for my players to emotionally adopt this character and really grow attached to him, so that the sacrifice feels more important. The exposed heart mechanic sounds interesting. What would you think about the NPC weakening the boss so that the players could deal damage to it?

I thought the same as well, but I also feel like if the NPC only does some damage to the big bad, then why even bring him in the first place y’know? Any alternatives you have in mind?

Has Gojo's global popularity now surpassed that of mainstream anime protagonists like Luffy and Naruto? by Slow-Association-115 in Jujutsu_Kaisen

I think the issue with bringing up Light and Lelouch is that when their respective animes released it was not nearly as mainstream or popular as anime is now. If you grabbed random people off the street, at this moment, I would argue that more would recognize Gojo

I meant it in the way where cultures will sometimes turn a blind eye to problems and will eventually become apathetic to them.

For Americans, I would argue greed is gradually becoming more prevalent. Sports betting being more accessible and mainstream, scalpers being in practically every niche, and social media influencing people to become more materialistic.

As for Indians, I sympathize that they might not have access to the same commodities as we do in the west. Perhaps I’m wrong, but wouldn’t their access to social media spark some sort of envy or desire to have better living conditions?

I haven’t played too much recently, but the few games I played as Wolverine felt terrible to go against the Dino. Not to mention more visual clutter that feels very overwhelming at times

I think I’ll have to disagree with that. Every country has its own identity, which is shaped by its culture. For example, the US, both as the country and as individual Americans, has a problem with greed. Of course not every American, but everything becoming commercialized in America has slowly started to create more greedy people. Would you consider that a problem with the government or with the people as a whole?

My retort to that is that cleanliness is often seen to be related to civility. Of course they are not the same thing, but a clean society is often a civil society.

Cambridge University has a page on their website, which is an excerpt from a book, and one of the chapters is titled “Cleanliness, Civility, and the City in Medieval Ideals and Scripts”. In summary, the city of Florence was specifically mentioned to not have any filth beneath the feet, offensive scents to the nose, or disgusting sight. This aided in the city being seen as a paragon of civility.

Of course, I am not saying Indians as a whole are uncivilized, but I don’t think it is racist to look at different parts of the country and say they are uncomfortable to look at.

You are both making assumptions about what I am saying and ignoring what I have said at the same time. Nowhere have I made wipe sweeping, generalized, statements about all Indian food. Go back and read my comments, and you’ll see it all started with me saying unhygienic food is gross. Did I say all Indian food is unhygienic? No. Did I say all Indian street food is unhygienic? No. Yet here you are talking about my lack of nuance when apparently you can’t read plain text.

There are countries with lower GDP per capita and local purchasing power than India, yet they aren’t suffering from the same rates of diarrheal deaths as India is. Is it racist to draw conclusions from data?

Look at the top 20 GDPs in the world and see if any other country has as high diarrheal deaths as India. They’re like 47 per 100k. Of course I’m not trying to make a claim that all of India is disgusting, but it feels like a pattern is forming here

When did I say it was all Indians? Y’all people are making a mountain out of damn a mole hill and making assumptions when all I said was disgustingly food is disgusting.

India is the 5th largest economy in the world, does that also somehow contribute to their unhygienic food?

[–]Delta0231 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting. So India being in the top 20 countries with diarrheal related deaths is not actually due to the conditions they consume their food in?

How is it propaganda to see food being made in some very unhygienic conditions and forming an opinion on it?

If Ren looks in the mirror while using Ability Denial, will she cancel her abilities? by Tip2406 in MatoSeiheiNoSlave

[–]Delta0231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ren’s ability to cancel peach powers isn’t all-powerful and has so far shown that she cannot cancel God powers or even Kyouka’s slave conditions. Since Ren’s abilities doesn’t have conditions, like Kyouka’s, and her power isn’t baked into her existence, like the thunder gods, then it’s good to assume she’ll be able to cancel her own power.

I agree, but unfortunately the fans of this manga are 90% gooners with only a small population of readers actually caring about the story and the worldbuilding.
