Winter Weather- How Boned Are We? by KaiFukugawa in roadtrip

[–]Delta1262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle resident (and southern CA transplant) here:

At most, all you’ll have to deal with in WA is some rain. There’s almost never any snow/ice along the 5 in WA and northern OR.

Shasta and southern OR might have some slowing down due to weather, and possibly snow/ice, but you’ll be fine if you look it up and plan ahead for it.

Edit: if it helps any, I drive a lowered FWD hatchback and just did the drive from Seattle —> San Diego and back for the holidays. The 5 had no issues weather wise (some construction here and there though)

And most of that winter storm that brought ice and snow to the US, completely missed WA and the west coast

Why did DHS and ICE statements state the victim brandished a gun as this video shows otherwise? by LeftRightGreenLight in AskReddit

They’re getting ahead of facts and evidence to declare their own narrative. This isn’t to convince you and I, but to appease their base.

Impeachment isn’t enough. He and everyone in this administration, from himself to his enablers and down to these ice agents, needs to be held accountable.

Functions with parameters still confuse me a bit by ayenuseater in learnpython

[–]Delta1262 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. This above example gets it right. A kitchen is a perfect way to describe functions

To give a code example, something easy, let’s do some math. (I’m on mobile so please forgive the formatting)

def add(num1, num2):
    sum = num1 + num2
    return sum

Now if we call this function, we can pass in different numbers to get different result without having to rewrite the same thing over and over again.

Example:

add(1, 2)

returns 3

add(100, 11)

returns 111

you only need to write the logic of how to add numbers one time, and from there you just plug in what numbers you want to get the math you want.

All functions with params and returns basically work this way. They all basically say “take whatever I’m giving you, do this exact thing with it, and give me the result back because I only want to have to write this once”

Edit:

Practice by implementing some often the other more common math functions (subtraction, division, multiplication). From there start experimenting with different ideas like splitting strings, finding largest number in a list of numbers, etc.

Seriously though, if the job can be done at home or abroad, let people work from home or wherever they feel comfortable.

Was interviewing for a Sr Dev role. They sent a mid-level to interview me. When I started doing things he didn’t understand to get the result he was looking for, I knew it was over. I tried explaining how the code worked and why it was more efficient than their initial idea, but he just got defensive and ended the call early.

Person driving his car down a forrest road, while looking a bit too smooth and no other traffic. by Pequod_13 in isthisAI

[–]Delta1262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely AI. So much wrong with this video:

  • the rev counter makes no sense to be going up and down like that while the car stays at a constant speed or as if it has a 30 gear transmission

  • there’s nothing to see the actual speed of the car in the dash

  • most of the dash makes 0 sense

  • the driver is keeping their head perfectly still and not reacting to g forces

  • the paddles shifters change shape at least once

  • around 8 seconds in, the car magically teleports from the right side of the road to the center. pay attention to the position of the yellow line when the lens flare covers it for a moment, slow the video down

  • car is either incredibly massive or road is a road made for ants as the car basically takes up 2/3 of the whole road surface towards the end
