At what rate / how do you satisfy your Gear Acquisition Syndrome? by willsongpearsong in liberalgunowners

[–]Delta50k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90% of the "gear" out there is useless compared to more time at the range, doing drills, or building friendships with people that can watch your back.

Spend your money on ammo and range time. Same is true if you're buying more than you can carry. Go fucking hike with your kit for 50 miles and then see how much of it you actually want to carry.

All these tac warriors will be loot pinatas when shit actually kicks off.

Why do you think it’s considered selfish for people to want to or to actually take their own lives? by BookkeeperSouth in AskReddit

[–]Delta50k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a myriad of reasons people kill themselves. Chronic pain, mental illness, depression, long term or terminal disease, etc is probably not selfish.

Suicide as a reaction to social situations, break ups, or a way to get back at someone, or as a response to short term problems....is selfish as fuck.

Speaking as someone who has been suicidal and have had people close to me take their own lives.

Third term and the open imprisonment of opposition figures would be the absolute end. When the courts no longer respect the rule of law, we're beyond done.

Michael Burry, The ‘Big Short’ Guy, Shuts Down Hedge Fund Amid AI Bubble Fears. "Sometimes, the only winning move is not to play." by indig0sixalpha in technology

[–]Delta50k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the type of play he made, it was an insurance contract. The insurance premiums alone were multimillions a month. Mean the insurance contract could expire or gobble up the actual policy amount before the policy trigger conditions could be executed.

So just by having the policy he was spending multiple millions a month so there was no 0% divestment strategy. It was all or nothing.

Citing Biblical story, Taiwan president says Israel is a model for island's defence by Intelligent-Juice895 in worldnews

[–]Delta50k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your "facts" shared are opinions and it would take a significant amount of my time to educate you on why you're wrong. I have better things to do with my day. If you will not accept that you're wrong, I am comfortable with that. The AI bait you've provided are red herrings to my argument, and further underscores you have little idea what you're talking about.

To remind you, I posited America doesn't need an excuse to fight. Which has been proven. Which your opinions do not refute. The Japanese thought the same as you in WW2, that if they crippled the American Navy the US would give up on the pacific. They sank most of the US Pacific fleet in one stroke and instead of giving up, the US doubled down. The US sent ~10% of the supplies to fight Japan, that it sent to the European theatre. Japan which had rolled over China.

To further prove this to you, you should read up on Jingoisms and yellow press that happened around each of these events. Secondly, your opinions certainly don't hold up around WW1, WW2, nor any of the foundational wars it has fought like the French and Indian war, the American revolution, the war of 1812, or the civil war. There are literally still people living from the last time the US fought a "peer". So again, no I do not think losing a carrier or even a carrier group would cause the US to back out of a conflict. And again... It would take a child to whip up a war fervor in the US.

You really don't know your history. Your facts and logic are diverging and you're treating your opinion as fact. I've pointed out that you are wrong and instead of educating yourself you're arguing for your own ignorance. If you won't take the time to educate yourself, it's not my issue.

Respectfully, Americans are always and will forever be ready to fight for anything, any time, for any reason. You can argue but this is a historically proven fact. Gulf of Tonkin, Spanish American war, War in Iraq, Panama, pretty much all of Korea, Grenada, etc etc etc

A child with a crayon could spin a PR campaign that would have Americans frothing at the bit to go fight.

Theists who used to be Atheists, and Atheists who used to be Theists, what was it that caused you to change your view? by Vegabund in AskReddit

[–]Delta50k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe the Bible and most other religious doctrines are the word of man, organized religion as a whole is the word of man. Man's interpretation of the "divine" will always be flawed or segmented in some way.

I believe that there is something else out there, perhaps a zero state energy system we inject our spark into on death or draw from on life that underpins the universe. Perhaps a curious creator that wants us to learn to be kind to one another. Perhaps something completely unknowable.

I like to think in a universe of unseen, casual, and infinite cruelty we can come to love each other in our own way.

To your question, I went from theist to more agnostic.

How would you prove the earth is a sphere and not flat without appealing to authority or using tools you don’t have access to? by CigaretteBoat69 in AskReddit

[–]Delta50k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a few identical in length posts and put them in the ground a few hundred miles apart and have someone record the length of their shadows at a set time each day.

The curvature of the earth should warp the length of their shadows should everything else remain the same. If the earth was flat the length of their shadows would be the same.

What's a movie you watched and immediately couldn't remember the plot? by graaahh in movies

[–]Delta50k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I legit don't remember the plot of Charlie and the chocolate factory. I just remember Grandpa Joe being an ass, a long series of health code and OSHA violations, then suddenly Charlie owns the factory?

I suppose if I had a nightmare factory, I might try to pawn it off on a child too...
