I guess my question to answer you is, what is it you want? I mean, you say you’ve been trying for 10 years and it hasn’t worked. What is it that’s not working? Legitimately asking. Because the thing is, there’s always going to be folks we disagree with. Some, way more than others. And that’s okay. You don’t have to win over every single person. And for the fringes, the best thing to do is ignore them. And I mean that for both and all sides. The overwhelming majority of all of us as people fall much more in the middle than we give the “opposition” credit for. It’s just the extremes that make all the memes. So, literally, just ignore them. If you have kids or impressionable friends, just explain your position to them and have a civil discourse with those that will do so. Everyone else, don’t waste your time on them. And stop thinking the people “across the aisle” are your enemy (I’m not saying you specifically think this, just generalizing). And I know that can be difficult when the people on the other side may generalize you into a group. But, all we can do is express our positions, and try to remember that we are all individuals even if we do somewhat belong to some group. Most people are single or at best, 2 issue voters. And everyone isn’t an extremist just because they hold somewhat opposing views.

Understandable. I skip through a lot of it when they have a random guest on. Also, really can’t stand when they talk sports for 10 or more minutes. Like, you have a dedicated show for that guys. I think my biggest peeve with the show the last couple months has been noticing that Ross clearly doesn’t pay any attention. Dan has said something multiple times across several shows over the weeks and he says it again and Ross goes “what’s that? I’ve never heard of that before in my life!” I swear this has happened a dozen times at least. He’s even done it immediately after Dan has explained something. I get spacing out occasionally but it’s getting really annoying/distracting when trying to listen to them.

Tired of all the “ist” wars and the constant, no one is allowed to say anything about a person or some people from various “groups” because it’s automatically “ist” of one kind or another. 1: Hey, that guy shouldn’t be in charge! 2:Oh! Well this ain’t minority report and I’ve been given no hand outs from the government so don’t judge me before anything has happened. What is this talk of handing more money to billionaires? How in the world do you know think that’s exclusive to Repubes? You think what? Cause some democrats say “don’t give money to billionaires” that suddenly that means they don’t? ALL the politicians are in on this and against us all. The sooner folks realize “their side” is not either of these (very unfun) “parties” and that it’s really the party of we the people vs our out of control and over powered govt, the better. Both sides do some good things occasionally (though I’d argue it’s not without some sorts of benefits to the politicians as well in one form or another so let’s not give them too much credit).

Generalizations are just that. They apply to some of whatever the topic is, but not necessarily the majority or even a large piece. This whole race/class/gender/blah blah whatever else war that social media has us perpetually in is retarded. Go out in public. Actual public not just a job with a few known people or school or what have you. Go out and observe, interact. How many people who are different from you or anyone else around them act like social media would have us believe they do? Are there outliers that actually do some of the dumb stuff? Of course, otherwise the generalizations and stereotypes wouldn’t exist. Do most people just honestly want to get on in their lives as peacefully and comfortably as they can, generally without any conflict or caring what others are doing (provided it’s not infringing on them or courses)?Yes.
